According to a BMI calculator your BMI is 28.1. This does put you in the overweight category. The ideal weight for your height is anywhere from 125-168. This does not take into account bone structure and muscle versus fat. Muscle does weigh more than fat. You are only 22 pounds over the max normal weight. I don't think you would be considered "that fat" because of your height. PS. I would love to weigh 190 again.

you are technically overweight. i am 5'10 and lost a lot of weight this summer so i'm now 185. i could stand to lose maybe another 15 pounds and still be the curvy girl I love to be, but i'm feeling really good. if you aren't happy with how you feel or look you can change little things in your diet to drop some weight. or add some physical activity to tone it up a bit. pick one or some changes to over time improve your health. stop drinking soda, don't make the mistake of thinking of fast food as a meal, take an exercise class a few times a week, eat a healthy breakfast to give you energy all day long without snacking, drink lots of water to help you stay full and hydrated, pay attention to portions. the more small healthy choices you make the better you will feel each day. i still munch on a pile of chips during a movie sometimes or have a huge slice of carrot cake if one crosses my path, but other times i snack on baby carrots and choose not to have an appetizer or that big glass of soda.
be good to yourself, basically that's my only advice.
and if your family is not being supportive - tell them what you need from them and how what they say makes you feel. don't let them bully you into feeling bad about yourself!

It totally depends. Is most of your weight muscle? That's how it is with me. Because I've played sports all my life I have a lot of muscle. I'm 5'5, and I weigh 140 lbs. But I have virtually no body fat. So I wouldn't be too worried about it. Especially since your tall. Taller people usually weigh more anyways. If you want to lose weight, then good for you. But you're fine, don't listen to everyone else.

Yes you are about 40 pounds overweight - that's about 20% of your body weight. At 5'9" you should be able to at least wear a size 14. I am the same height and wear a 16 and need to lose 20 pounds.

You are not fat. According to medical professionals you could probably stand to lose about 20-30 lbs. You family members need to stop being so negative towards you. Just ignore them. They are obviously jealous for some reason.

According to the BMI, your body mass index number is 28.1 which is classified as being overweight. BUT, if you don't feel like you're overweight, what difference does a number make?!?
