If I were one of the two people, I'd pick mine.

What is True and what is false are never in conflict. Just like the light is not in conflict with darkness...light dispells darkness by its presence. What is true dispells what is false by its presence.

So when 2 people argue about the truth and they can hold their own...they are arguing half-truths - not the Truth.

So there has to be a 3rd option that is more true than the first 2...pehaps the 2 religions are not all that conflicting. You would have to investigate and find the truth...but in the end it will not be either of the religions (as both a half-truths).

Proper "Truth" can be proved by use of the scriptures.
One religion preaches the ' Trinity' concept. Very complicated, three into one. Very difficult to explain.
Why would a loving God make things so difficult.
And this preaching done by a few individuals from pulpits to those who attend through fear of eternal punishment. another thing a loving God would not contemplate.
A second religion preaches that God AND HIS SON, have better world planned for those who obey.
and the preaching is done by EVERYONE who has shown a capacity for mature study of the scriptures. and their membership count does NOT include immature young ones. even though those same ones are thoroughlt involved.
No prizes for guessing which is which.

I would have to do as the bible advises and search out the teachings that went in agreement with the Scriptures.

1 John 4:1: "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."

Acts 17:11 & 12: "Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni′ca, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. 12 Therefore many of them became believers, and so did not a few of the reputable Greek women and of the men."

At some point, if there were differences in the teachings of the two religions, one would end up following the teachings of the Bible more closely, and the truth would become apparaent. The Bible is the only source of truth that I would trust, so it is the final authority.

Proverbs 2: 1-5: "2 My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, 2 so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; 3 if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, 4 if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, 5 in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God."

I would go to each religion's service. I'd pick the religion with the least whacko's in it. My friend goes to a church in a cafeteria where theirs is the TRUTH. All the people have lost custody of their kids, were beaten by ex-husbands, are out of rehab for heroin, etc, etc. It is like their last resort place.

Just because both claim to be the truth does not mean both are equally true. Only one can be right or both wrong. I will take the time to examine both their claims and test them for the ring of truth.

(On a wicked day, I have thought to arrange for the Mormons and the JW's to come round at the same time and let them fight it out in my lounge).

It presupposes some methodology or knowledge which can rule on the two views in question. A meta-belief.
And how is that to be known to be reliable?

There are clues: signs of special pleading or *internal* inconsistency, for example, or inconsistency with the observed world, but these need to be handled with care, in case they turn out to be artefacts of the assessor's own assumptions.

C S Lewis had some good observations on this in his piece "Meditation in a toolshed", though I don't think he arrives at a definitive solution.

Religion is whatever you feel is right.
How do you know what you feel is right? Haven't your feelings ever turned out to be wrong? Are you are saying that what you feel determines truth? If so, then you are putting yourself in the place of God, and looking to yourself for what you "feel" is right.
If religion is whatever you feel is right, then that could lead to chaos. What if some people had a religion where they felt stealing was acceptable? And what about lying and cheating? Would you trust someone who believed in a religion that felt it was all right to steal, lie, and cheat?
Hitler felt killing Jews was right. He was wrong. The Bible says that the heart is deceitful and untrustworthy (Jer. 17:9). If you could come to know truth by what you felt, then the Bible, which is the revelation of God, didn't need to be written. But, it has been written, and it has revealed that only God is the Source of truth, not your feelings.
I've never known truth to contradict itself. What if someone felt that something was right, and another person felt it was wrong? Would they both be right? If your statement is true, then how could there be a contradiction like that, if feelings determined truth?
All religions are different paths to the same place.
If all religions are different paths to the same place, then why do the paths contradict each other? Does truth contradict itself? Let's review the teachings of just three religions:
Buddhism is pantheistic and says there is no personal God and everyone can reach Godlikeness on his own. Islam says that Jesus was just a prophet, and not the only way to God. Christianity says that there is a personal God, and that the only way to Him is through Jesus (John 14:6). If these three religions are, as you say, different paths to the same place, then why do they contradict each other? Does truth contradict itself?

Most religions claim that what they say comes from God. Therefore, we do well to heed the words of Jesus' apostle John, who wrote: "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."

Everything that comes from God reflects his personality, expeciallyl his predominant quality, love. I would identify true worshiper by the fruits they produce. Matt. 7: 16-19, " By their fruits you will recognize them" Love will always identifies true worshippers, for they imitate God in showing love.

can I suggest reading a very small book entitled "Can I Trust the Bible" written by a former skeptic of the bible Ralph O. Muncaster.
In this book, Muncaster compares most religions in many different lights.
I think there would be enough information there for you to decide or even find more resources to look in to.
I also recommend "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell

Both claims different methods of enlightenment are the truth such as go to Rome you can go by plane, by train, by vessel or on foot. Which way is better for you, you choice is. None of them are wrong. The wrong is only you did not understand the meaning behind.
