yup, it doesn't happen often, but I have seen fecal emesis on more than one occasion. Caused by a long term bowel obstruction, not just constipation, it usually occurs in the elderly population.

Constipation is one type of intestinal blackage, as the faeces backs up along the intestines, partially digested food (diarrhoea) is vomited up.

Faecal vomiting. I've seen in in dogs many a time and I am certain it can happen with humans as well.

It can be caused also by intestinal foreign bodies, tumours, twisted intestines.

Yes, it has to be true. If someone is so constipated that their entire digestive system is log-jammed with faeces, then if food continues to be put into the stomach, there is going to be nowhere else for any of it to go but up. Joy!

It seems that some of our more learned friends should check out the facts before giving their opinions.

Severe faecal impaction can, and does, cause the return of partially digested food/faecal matter to return up the digestive tract. I've witnessed it myself, on more than a few occasions.

You would have to be more than just constipated...it is called an obstruction. If you are totally obstructed, as opposed to partially obstructed, then yes, in severe and prolonged cases, you can have fecal vomiting.

Yes, this is true but only in extreme cases of blockage, and it's very dangerous to let constipation go this far--- an RN

I seriously doubt it, your lower intestine is designed to send traffic only one way. It is more likely that you will stop digesting new food and possibly vomit undigested food.

yes it is true that if you have a severe fecal impaction you can throw up fecal matter, but it is goss and very dangerous you can cause yourself to assperate to feases in to your lungs and it could kill you, not to mention that it nasty. normally it is cause by an abnormality in the colon or the person not having bowel muscles to go to the bathroom by theirself and they need to go to the doc emeadiatly

You must be kidding where did you hear that, because it is misinformation. Your digestive system is very complicated and you could not vomit up any digested matter from your colon.
