and why is a monkey commanding us?

Our government has a very delicate system of checks and balances...the fact of the matter is that the ultimate commander of all the Armed Forces is the President. He is the only person capable of bringing the troops home, and he feels as though it is not in our best interest at this point (I disagree, but that's another debate).

Congress, which is now in controll of the democrats does not have a say in whether or not the troops come home...they control the funding for the troops (through the budget and appropriations committees), and can ultimately force withdrawl if they cut off funds, but that honestly would not be a very popular solution, either.

In addition, the President listens to his Generals and military advisers (or so he claims) thus when the new Commanding General in Iraq (General Patreaus) asks for more troops, he sends them.

So, ultimately, as long as the President is in office, his wishes will be the one for the military. If a reelection were coming up, he might have a different outlook, but at this point, he's in office until the end of his term, thus can do what he wants.

It's a good system.

You have to remember one thing. Soldiers are owned by the Government, if the government wants to stay somewhere for some amount of time, it doesn't matter one iota what the soldiers want. You signed that contract and you listen to your commander in Chief.

Oh this is an easy one, they continue to send troops in Iraq becuase they basically want to take control of Iraq and change it into a democracy, leaving Iraq would only make the U.S. look like losers, therefore George W. Bush continues to kill our families.

because bush is an IDIOT and as long as its no one he really cares about over there fighting and dying he doesn't give a F***... he's just trying to accomplish the thing's his father never did when he was in office I'm sure he got the idea from daddy bush....and he won't back down because he doesn't want to admit that there was no reason to go into Iraq
