and it's not a small office either - 2 offices, conference room, plus reception area. I can't take it anymore and holding my breath doesn't work!!

There are many ways!
You can ask them if they are aware of the smell of their breath and be friendly about it, or you can just offer them gum or a mint with or without bringing up the fact that their breath smells. The key that works for me is to be friendly and tell them about their breath and offer them a pack of gum.
I hope this helps so you can feel comfortable in your office!

Leave a note. Here's wht the note should say:

"Dear ______,

We all tried to come up with the nicest way of doing this and this is the result of our combined thoughts on the subject. We mean this in the kindest way and it has no bearing on you as a person, coworker, or anything.
Your breath is really bad and we are all concerned that you may have a problem that a dentist or other professional may be able to help you with.
We know it's hard to tell yourself when your breath is bad and we rely on others to keep us informed as well. We hope that it is nothing too serious and that we have not hurt your feelings, we all like you here!"

OMG hahahahahahaha. I deal with this on a daily basis. I sent an anonymous email to that person and told him that people are complaining about his breath. I also sent him a link to WebMD where it talked about halitosis.....good luck!

When they leave their desk, leave a piece of gum or a breath mint.
