I received an email with an attachment (legal papers I need to sign).
It came thru Affidavit.wpd2.wpd When I try to open it, It tells me the file does not have a program associated with it for perfprming an action. Create an association in my computer by clicking on view, folder options. Okay, so I clicked on view, folder options. Now what do I do to make it open in microsoft word so I can print it? Thank you!

I fogot to mention the laptop I'm borrowing is Windows 98se. It does have microsoft office 2000 on it, and I'm not too smart whn it comes to computers - as in novice- so the simpler the instuctions the better. That's everybody. Will try later 'cause right now, we're getting hit with yet another snowstorm. Gotta shovel!

Open the file through MS Word. To do this, you have to go to:
- File -> Open document
- Use the mask "*.*" instead of "*.doc"
- Or if you are using MS Word 2003 use the drop down box to select Word Perfect documents "*.wpd/*.doc"

You should be able to open the document after that. If not, please display more information for symptoms...

It looks like the extension is bad. You need to have the person who sent it to you send it again. When you send an attachment it can only have one extension. The extension is ".wpd" Your attachment appears to have two extensions ".wpd2.wpd" which means your computer will not be able to open it. You've done nothing wrong. Simply call the person who sent it to you, have them rename the file something like "Affidavit.wpd" and resend it. They may also save it as a ".rtf" extension so you may open it in Microsoft word without losing formatting. You should have no problems.

Good luck!

Download the file to a location first, right click on the file by holding the shift key on your keyboard, and you will have "open with" option. Select "open with" and then you will have a list of programs, select MS Word from the list and click on OK. If you dont have MS Word in the list then you will need to browse for it.

Another easy way to do it is to download the file to desktop, open MS Word and drag and drop the file into the MS Word open document. This will open the file if it supports that format.

You may want to ask the sender of the email to resend the attachment to you in .DOC format (WORD) The .WPD is an extension that could be used for WordPerfect or 602PC SUITE.

If getting the email resent to you isn't an option, try going to this link:

and choose the "WordPerfect Converter - WP2DOC 2.0" link. This may help you.
