I had the same problem for a while, and I was told to give American comics a try. And there are really some amazing stories that have that psychological, gritty feel of Death Note. I'd recommend looking into some of the darker Batman's, Daredevils, and stuff like that. For some reason there just aren't that many mangas like this, let alone really good ones.

Death Note is sooo cool and exciting :) I really like Light. Not that I'm in love with him. But how he's just so smart and at the beginning of the series, it's all just perfect how him and L "battle" each other.

I love Death Note.. Light is hot but L was my favorite..Too sad that Light finished him off.

I like L too. I also like that anonymous actor named Ryuuga Hideki in the anime.
