Nope... old wives tale... lol

Dogs lick themselves in prime spots and other dogs as well..
Lick feet
Eat cat poo (worms?)
Eat their poo (worms?)
Eat rotten garbage if they can find any
Drink out of mud puddles

All kinds of bacteria in a dogs mouth ... plus they usually don't brush / floss / and use mouth wash...

I hope you do.... LOL
DR JON had an article on this just last week

It depends on how many times the dog toothbrushes his or her teeth, and if also depends on whether or not the dog eats plenty of veggies and fruits and drinks plenty of sparkletts water and it all depends on who's dog you are asking about. I don't kiss dogs, and, I don't, never have let a dog lick my face cause it likes lickin the most dirtiest places imaginable to man. So the reason you want to know if the dogs mouth is cleaner than a humans might be because your girlfriend is a dog and you're wondering, should or would it be safe to kiss her. Smooch is a good name of a dog that likes lickin and kissin peoples faces, ickeeeeee!!

No, a dogs mouth is much more filthy than a humans mouth.

The reason why people say it's cleaner is because, the germs in its mouth are species related, and cannot harm a human being.

If a dog's mouth is sterile, how could it transmit rabies, tetanus, pasteurella or any of the other types of infection associated with dog bites?
Dogs aren't particularly fussy about where they put their tongues or what goes into their mouths. (Think poop and puke).
I'd rather be French-kissed by a human being than a dog any day.

I wouldn't kiss a dog even if it were, but the "experts" claim it is cleaner ... I guess they wouldn't kiss a human. LOL
.
Oh, someone said a dogs mouth is sterile ... urine is supposedly sterile also, but how many people drink it?

In a way certain, and in a way, no. people have bacteria on their tongue continuously for some reason (I forgot), and it really is in tremendous quantities. in case you stick out your tongue and seem at it, you spot those circles all on it? it truly is bacteria! dogs, on the different hand, don't have the bacteria. So certain, it really is cleanser than ours because there tongue is roofed with assistance from a layer of bacteria like ours is. yet, our bacteria isn't risky bacteria (for sure) and dogs devour gross issues. dogs devour trash, devour their poop, %. up nasty issues off the line, and so on. even as they attempt this, because they do no longer have bacteria on their tongue to break it down, it remains there for awhile, making their mouth quite dirty! So in a way it really is cleanser, yet with what they get themselves into, it maximum really isn't!

I heard that, but I don't believe it's true.
Think about it:
- dogs don't practice personal hygiene (oral)
- would you lick the inside of a dog's mouth
