why do you have to tell her? go get your supplies yourself, and when she sees that you have them, she'll see that you were mature enough not to have to go to mommy and you can take care of yourself.

I think this is tough for every girl! I'm only 23, so I still remember pretty well! I actually didn't tell my mom at all. I just took care of it myself and went on about my life. Of course my mom saw the wrappers in the garbage and figured it out, which was even more embarassing than if I would have just told her. You can't control how your mom will respond when you tell her. If you're worried about her babying you, my suggestion would be to tell her after you've taken care of it. That way you can hopefully avoid embarassing talks about how to use a pad, etc. It's a very important part of your life, and you just have to share it with your mom even if it's embarassing an uncomfortable. Just come out and say it. That's about the only thing you can do. When you tell her, you can even say that you don't want to be babied, that you don't want her help, or that you don't want her to make a big deal out of it. If you tell her what you want from her, there's a better chance that you'll get it! I hope your mom responds well! Good luck!

I started my period when i was ten. I came home and i told my mom that i thought i was dying. Im 22 now. Not too long ago. I told my mom straight out i guess because i was scared and so young and didnt know. Just be open and tell her that "aunt flo" has started visiting. All moms start to baby and get really cheesy but let her know how you feel that you just want to talk with her grown up about it and not to feel like a baby. Let her know that it would be important to you if you can talk to her mother to daughter without feeling like a baby. Hope this helps.

Well, tell her so she can front for the pads/tampons that's major $$ each month if you don't. Just say mom, I got my period I need some pads/tampons. If you need me I'll be in my room. LOL That's roughly what I said to my mom and that was it. Sure she'll be all oooh ahhh and then just look at her and say "is this how grandma treated you?" that's usually get to the point LOL

Ask her about when she started her period and how she told her mom. Maybe if you remind her of what it's like telling your parents, she'll go easy on you. She will remember how embarrasing it is, accept your now "growing up" and leave it at that?

You just have to tell her. No way around it. And if she starts doing some weird babying thing...just walk away.
