I have to leave for work by 6pm and in need of a quick meal idea.
Please no pizza, chicken, macaroni, tacos, raviolli, grilled cheese, or hotdogs, nor french fries or dining out. Each of the kids hate one of the above listed foods or anything similar to it. Help!!!

If they heat these foods, then you're in a world of hurt. Just how hungry have you let them get? I'll bet that they'll belly up to the table for BREAKFAST pretty quick if they really WOULDN'T eat a reasonable dinner the night before.

I'm serious,.. not joking or being a smart-***. Leave it in front of them until they eat it. I know it's easier said than done, but it CAN be done. It won't kill them to miss dinner.

Well, really the most important thing is that you sit and eat with them and give them a balanced meal. Don't prejudge what their reaction will be and let them know that they should try as least a bite or two of any new food.

Casseroles and soup are a good way to get the balanced food groups in, if they are opinionated. Don't ask them what they want- they don't know. They'll tell you what their friends eat.

But DO try to take their likes/dislikes into consideration (AFTER they've actually TRIED the foods). And remind them that their tastes will change as they mature- so if they don't care for something now, they should try it again in a year or two!

Unfortunately, I would have to say, NOTHING. My daughter is a picky eater, and the only way I was able to plan meals to feed her regularly, was to refuse her any meal other than what I made. She went hungry a few times, and I would offer her bread or a granola bar, but eventually she became sick of it. Gradually, she began eating the foods that she supposedly did not like, and now, she will eat WHATEVER I make. She's almost four years old now, but with the system I developed, of refusal to give her what she wants only took about four or five days before she got the point. I mean, I'll make her her favorites for lunchtime, but breakfast and dinner are ALL me. Now, she even enjoys helping me cook meals. And believe it or not, her fave now is Chipotle Chicken and mexican rice! I also found that adding a little bit of lemon juice to everything tickles her taste buds and adds a little extra needed tang to her food, and she really likes it.

You can make or order whatever you have the time, money or energy to do and they can either eat it or not eat at all. My children all went through a picky stage. I put what was for dinner on the table, they either ate or went hungry. Then they would be offered it for breakfast. I know it sounds harsh and mean, but you can't be cooking what ever they "feel" like. They need to learn to sit up and eat what is in front of them. My children don't like things, if we have that for dinner, they have to eat a little bit, they eat it first and then they are done. You need to lay down the rules. IF they don't eat it, no snacks either. You are in charge. My children eat pretty well at every meal, sometimes I have to remind them to eat what they don't like first, but now that I have the rule set. They don't fight it much anymore.

Fix a normal healthy meal of your choice and tell them they can eat or do without. I am sure they will find something in either the main dish or a side dish that will suffice. Don't let them run you crazy with their picky BS.

Wow! Let's see, what do they like, you pretty much just gave us a list of don't likes. Do they like fish, salad, fruit, bacon, eggs, milk, cereal, hamburger, beef? So, something simple...hamburger pattie with a fruit salad and a glass of milk? Or, roast beef with green salad and baked potato? Use the same meats with different seasonings...barbeque sauce, salsa, steak sauce, etc. Chili with garlic bread? BLT? Scrambled eggs & bacon? Stir fry Veggies & rice? These are all healthy, tasty, and are NOT on your list of don't likes. Good luck!

Everyone gets their PJs on early, you make up some bacon or sausages, some cut up fruit and then panackes or waffles or french toast.

i found that hot pockets or tv dinners usually does the trick at my house. they are cheap and they can choose the ones that they like. if you have time off then i would suggest making a meal and putting in one of each of their favs and a meat you all like and let them go from there

sandwiches, my guess would be to prepare dinners that are not those things earlier in the day so you don't have to rush later. when you are at home all before 6, what are you doing? spend tht time thinking up and preparing meals for them.
