All you need to do is send the installer file for the program to the CD by right-clicking the file, choosing "Send To..." from the menu and selecting the "CDR/RW Drive" option. This will temporarily save the file to another location.

You will then see a balloon in the System Tray (lower right corner). Once you have put a blank CDR into your burner drive, click that balloon. This will open a new window, and on the left side you will see a link that says "Burn these files to CD." Clicking this will start the wizard, which is as simple as clicking Next a few times.

You must have the original disks for the program. With few exceptions You can not extract an installed application out of your comptuer. You need the original installation disks or the original installation program to get it on your new configuration.

You can save your DATA (the stuff you created while you used the program) but you cannot extract the installed application itself, most programs put themselves in so many parts of your computer it would be like trying to take pee out of a swimming pool.

What program? Generally it won't work, as the program creates "Registry" entries. (See 'Source' box for Registry definition.)

So when copying the program back to a new formatted computer, the software won't work.

If you drop me a line at daniel.neville@gmail.com saying which software it is, I may be able to help further.
