Just curious, but if you have your arm amputated for something like bone cancer, what does the hospital do with that limb? And if for some reason you wanted to keep that limb for yourself, could you? (Don't worry, I'm not about to get an amputation, nor do I have cancer, I'm just curious.)

They biopsy a sample of the tissue sometimes. But, generally they all wind up in the incinerator.

Thats a good question. I know people have an option to be an organ donor in most states and it is reflected on their drivers license. I would imagine you can also donate your body or parts of it to science. My college had a human arm encased in clear plastic with most of the skin removed so that you can see the muscles/tendons etc. in a human anatomy & physiology class.

Doctors can sometimes play with real human heads when they go to medical type conventions/conferences. I don't know if you can keep it yourself though and I assume the hospitals just incinerate stuff like that or send it off as hazmat since all or most of that stuff is a biohazard.

Occasionally you will see a traveling human body show with real human bodies for example go to google and search for something called

Bodies The exhibition its supposed to show in Vegasa the Tropicana.
