My Mks are all set Zero at 25 yards for close in work on rats or snakes.
But I shoot 50 maximum for squirrels, but most shots on squirrels are usually with in 35 yards.
I would advise you zero for 25 yards and get accustom to the impact point at 50 an up to 75 yards .
The amount of drop you get will depend on the length of barrel and type of ammo you use.
My self I have not seen my Mks to be very finicky about ammo they seem to like all that I have fed them over the years.
From experience I learned to keep my zero at 25 so as to be able to remove the snakes head.
For where I was raised we had quite a population of Cottonmouth on our 29 acre pond and 2 species of Rattlesnake and also Copperheads were quite abundant ranch when I was young.
Seeing that me and my pistol went every where, the snake population took a steep decline.
Attached are some links to help you sight in if you need them.

Hope this was of help.

I set my iron sights in for 25 yards to hit just above the front sight plane. That way I can hold on the bottom edge of the squirrels and hit him dead on. Ive tried 15 yard zeros and 35 yard zeros and it seems that in my area 25 is the best for shooting them in the trees and on the ground. I put a scope on my a few years ago as my eyes are not young any more but keep the 25 yard zero using a 2 power scope. I think the longest shot Ive made on a fox squirrel was around 40 yards, and really with the rainbow trajectory of the 22 in a handgun you really will need to shot it a lot to get to know how to hold at longer distances any way.

You should zero the sites in to your personal shot. It should be in the instructions you received with it. It doesnt really matter what youre shooting at just as long as you hit it where youre aiming it.

get a good quality scope unless you already have one I would suggest a variable power 2-7 bushnell. Sight it in for fifty yards. The twenty two has such a small bullet after fifty yards you have wind and bullet drop to worry about
good luck
