You could say "Hi, I don't think my mobile is working properly, can you call me to see if it rings?" then when he does, his number will come up on your screen, voila!

Oh here is a good idea... not an excuse... and if it worked for me, it might work for you. Long time ago I liked this guy in class and I was ready to finish the class and was anxious to see him again, so one day after class he was waiting for me outside to walk with the group and I gave him my cell phone... I handed my cell phone and said "Here, add your name and number on my cell so we can keep in touch" and he gladly entered it himself...

Make plans in a group and say oh ill text you with details i dont think i have your number. Then it will be easier to text him without seeming like a stalker!!

Similar to another- but steal his phone, bring up the conversation ofmobiles (e.g mention pictures on phone or similar), offer to ring his phone when he can't find it.

Steal his mobile, and then ring 'home' in his address book and say you found his mobile! You can then arrange to meet up so you can give him it back!
