I just purchased a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport. It has a keyless entry keypad on the outside drivers door, and I dont know the code, and I dont have the owners manual that could possibly have it in there...
Is there anywhere in the car that has the code to open the car this way???

L/rear compartment opening, where spare tire jack handle is located. RAP module inside, with FIVE numbers. The five numbers are your kepad keyless entry code. You may need a small mirror for better access to see the digits.

there should be a little plastic credit card looking thing with the manual...it will have 5 numbers on it....that is the code...

i purchased my 98 explorer 1 yr ago and it also has keyless and my friend and i searched every piece of the frame and interior for the code and it was not there...i happened to grab the book and see the card.

if the card is not there you could always contact a ford dealership in the area to see if there is a way for them to find it. this method may be a bit pricey tho

We bought a 2004 F150 and it has the keypad on the door and we were told and given the code and the little card was in with the owners manual and we were told that we could change it if we wanted to as well. Getting in contact with whoever you purchased it from or Ford Motor Company should be able to give you this information.

After you have your 5 digit code, you can download your owners manual (in PDF format) by clicking here:

The information on how to use your keyless entry code is on pages 63-66

rakelis right its in the jack compartment and the put it where you cant directly see it so look good mine was on metal box of some type about 6 inches square and 2 inches thick

If you cannot find it you can turn your key from full off to full on without cranking the car or stopping 7-10 times in a row your locks will pop up and down and you can push in your own code

If I remember correctly Ford products had the default numbers on the trunk or tail gate hinges, I know the Mercury's had the stickers on the hinges.

If you can't find them you will need to take the Explorer to a service tech and have them reset.

Good Luck,

Most have the code somewhere in the trunk. Good luck.
