Genesis actually uses the word "ammaÌh", which means the length of a man's forearm. As this is the same as the English measurement "cubit", the King James translators used the English word cubit. That is what you do when you translate, you take a word from one language (like ammaÌh) and replace it with a word of the same meaning in the other language (like cubit).

Actually, cubit isn't the word used in Genesis.

Ammah is the word used in Genesis, which is the same measurement as a cubit (forearm length).

That's not a proof of intelligence found in Genesis. One possible answer: the inventor(?) who used the word CUBIT was influenced by reading of Genesis.

Maybe because they were translating the unit of measure used by Noah into Cubits, since whatever Noah used probably didn't still exist?

the old testament was written as we know it, i believe between 70ce and 120ce. This may have been based on earlier written and spoken teachings i don't know. so the appearance of the word CUBIT is not out of place
Translations, reinterpretations, misinterpretations , the occasional change of meaning of some words or replacing words nolonger used with new words.
any of these could also be to blame.

There are other units of measurement that were called a cubit, in both Egypt and Sumer.

Hmmm, you mean the Romans invented forearms? Maybe that's just how the word translates.

You must remember that the bible has been translated many times over. The most common translation is the King James Version.
