Any lotion that keeps it moisturized, as long as its fragrence free! That might burn a bit, but keep lotion on it at all times, the better care you take of it, the better it will look when the healing process is all over! Hope i helped ya!

Fresh Tattoo

Take bandage off in 2 hours
Wash tattoo carefully with warm soapy water
DO NOT SCRUB
Lightly pat the tattoo until dry…
DO NOT RUB
Apply a very thin coat of bacitracin or aquaphor ointment 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days
Although re-bandaging a tattoo is not recommended, if covering the tattoo is necessary a sterile bandage or dressing should be used.
Be sure and wash the tattoo every night and morning…
DO NOT SOAK
Avoid tattoo exposure to direct sunlight and refrain from swimming in fresh, salt or chlorinated water for at least 2 weeks.
After External Healing

Apply hand lotion once a day until dryness stops
Vaseline Intensive Care, Lubriderm, Nivea, etc...
Tanning fades tattoos
Always cover fully healed tattoo with sun block
DO NOT RUIN YOUR INVESTMENT!!!

I agree with "has no n" below except for the bacitracin part. Stick with A and D ointment. THIN COAT is the key. The ink must breathe. Thats important, and dont ever wipe ointment off with towel or anything. The ink can come right off with it! Be gentle!!!

when i got my tattoo, i was told to wash it with Dial anti-bacterial soap and spread a thin layer of A&D oinment on. after about a week i just used the shea butter balm that i made. i still use my balm and my tat looks as nice and colorful as when it was first done almost 5 years ago.

You should put a Vitamin D based ointment on. My husband has used Neosporin, but I heard that was not a good idea. I just use the regular Vitamin D ointment though, and it worked for me.

Your best bet is to stick with what your tattoo artist suggests. With mine, I usually used a facial moisturizer that had sunscreen in it. I always used facial moisturizers because they are so much more gentle and have less fragrances and other additives. No matter what you use, make sure it is mild.

I use Vaseline Intensive care, Advanced healing. Fragrance free. Seems to help healing, and cause less itching. Good luck.

When i got my tat, I was told to use plain old Vaseline. You just want to keep it moist, so it doesn't scab over.
Good Luck
