Jeremy is 0 for 3 in qualifying what should be a fast car. Can 360 OTC pull out if they want to, or is the money already committed for the full year? Could Davis fire Mayfield, or would he have to pay him until 2009 since his contract is until then? Mayfield walked away from the best ride he would ever have (Evernham) - he's close to being officially "washed up".

It would depend on his contract. There may be a "performance clause" of some sort. If he filled their definition of poor performance, he could be let go. This is how Elliott Sadler got out of his contract a year and a half early with RYR (the cars were not up to snuff, therefore, he was a free agent). And, you can also loose your sponsor mid-season. All of your questions depend on the exact wording in their contracts (which no one knows but them). But, I know one thing for certain, Ray Evernham probably laughs his butt off every Friday after qualifying!

Make that 0 for 4. Unsure about sponsorship, since most do not sponsor the 36 race schedule in full. Sure that anyone putting up money like that with no results can pull out at some point. Not only did Jeremy ruin his relationship with Evernham, remember back in the late 90's when he left Penske, and at the time was a top 10 team.

Mayfield's problem is that he will always be too high on himself.

No. He can fire him but would still have to pay him. Jeremy got screwed at Daytona when Sterling Marlin lifted at the end of his dual and let Mike Wallace get ahead of him for one of the transfer spots. Another big factor is that all the new teams are not getting enough practice time because of the inspection process (they inspect cars according to their standing). He is a decent driver and they have been on the bubble a couple of times, just not last week. The problems they are having are not due to his ability. ALL the Toyota teams are struggling and the way the rules are make it hard for them to compete. I'm not a rah rah Toyota guy but you have to see that there are some very good drivers in their cars (not talking about Mikey) that are not going to make many races this first year. Jeremy Mayfield is FAR from washed up. The problem he had with Ray was the amount of time he was devoting to Erin Crocker (instead of being at the races) and the fact that they took his team away and gave it to Kasey Kahne last year. Let's not forget that Jeremy made the chase in 2004 and 2005 with the very same team that got handed to the 9 car.

I'm pretty sure Bill Davis would still have to pay him, unless there is something in the contract about him not making any races. If Bill Davis is smart he would have something about that in the contract. The thing with Jeremy is he doesn't like working with team mates. I know this because it came directly from his wife's mouth (he agreed) on a show I saw with them. She was laughing the whole time she was talking. That's really not something to laugh about. Maybe that's why he has always stunk.

It would depend on the reason.

I bet that Ray Evernham could give Bill Davis a reason or two!!!!

I think that Jeremy needs to consider doing something that he might be better at.... like walking dogs or something!

rubbin is racin!

He wont be fired, all the Toyotas are struggling if anything he has had the most recent success out of all the drivers at Toyota and has a decent amount of experience made the chase 2 years in a row won also won at Michigan two years ago. Can't put it all on him, plus BDR has always run terrible probably the best driver they have had.

If your not a Jeremy fan. Don't make assumptions about him. He is a good driver, maybe not in the realm of Tony, Dale, Jeff or Jimmie, but he is good enough. Give them time to figure out the equipment and each other, and he will be back there. But don't blame the whole thing on Jeremy.

Yes he could be fired for "non performance"The firing would be challenged but the way the contract is written would be the deciding factor.Bill Davis racing would be the winner.
That's all I have to say about that.

yeah they could actually send him home...terminated from the driver of that car. but i am sure there is a clause somewhere that he gets somekind of monies for that tho.
Bill Davis Racing would not send him home without gas, maybe even buy him a bus ticket for him and his wife and those ugly pugs.
