Do you think we will pollute the earth to the farthest possible extent to destroy it or do you think we will all die in a nuclear winter? Because at the rate we're going the polar ice caps will melt completely if temperatures continue to rise at the rate they are going now.
I think it is important for the government and people world wide to start treating the Earth with some respect and try to clean it up. It stinks to know that no one will do anything until it gets really bad, and they don't care about future generations who are going to have to pay for our dumb mistakes.
How would you like to have your grandchildren call you a moron for not acting sooner.

In my opinion, the answer is yes, but only when it gets to a point of desperation. The United States has never really ever been a country that tries to prevent problems; it has always really only tried to fix problems once they have happened.

It's not worth it to our government to take drastic measures to clean up the environment yet, though anyone with half a brain cell can see where our environment is headed at this rate.

Only when something happens that affects a lot of Americans (and yes, Americans, not "people"), or when it affects big business, will the US start to do something about it.

That's my opinion, anyway.

We cannot destroy the earth, it's impossible. The worst outcome of even nuclear disaster would be that we'd get less people on the planet, the planet would still be here.

As for grandchildren, well I must say I don't really care much, I'm more worried about the consequences in my time. I'm 24 and I will likely live past 100 given the way that average life expectancy keeps rising, I think in Canada it's past 80 now. By the time I'm 80 it'll likely be over 100.

Even living to 100 that's 76 years, and the figures tell us it'll be a drastically different world by 2050, which is 43 years from now. So I'll get to see it, and live it, and that's what gives me the willies far worse than grandkids who aren't born yet. I like my home the way it is now, it shouldn't change so damned fast. And change it does, I've been in Canada for 15 years and I can tell a difference, that's fast.

Also generally I'm annoyed at most of the people holding green tech back, because of another great reason, my wallet. Green tech is cheaper to run, and I like cheap, if I can get cheaper fuels and cheaper hydro and water bill then that's what I want. I'm sick of putting money into the pockets of megacorporations who don't give a **** about my bottom dollar.

As for cleaning all the **** up that's out there, it'll only go away when we get rid of poverty, the richer the person(as in able to afford even basic needs) the more they can care, the more options they have. We also need to stop thinking like the poor in the developed world, where we have the money to fix a lot of it.

i think that we are going to destroy this earth to the fullest extent and then were going to be dumb and try to fix it when the end of the world is near. I also think we should get a head start on protecting the world for our future generations.
