No...unless you receive money from unemployment, or some other type of taxable government entity.

Note: VA Widow's or Surviror's Pensions, Social Security Survivor's Pensions, Welfare (TANF) etc. are not taxable--unless you have made over a certain amount of money from other sources.

no you don't need to file taxes if you are not working except if you are having taxable income from other sources excluding social security benefits.

Whether you worked is irrelevant.

What IS relevant is whether you've gotten any taxable income.
