liek..i thought soemone said something, but i wusnt sure, so i wus about to say "excuse me, ded u say soemthing?" but i realized that that wud be rude!! or "wud u mind?" or "wud it be too much to ask?"
*sigh* how cen i be gentlemanly with the negetive conotations??

Yes, that is how the language works. People create euphemisms to be polite, but after a while, the negativity attaches itself to the euphemism.

Like take the term "colored people." It was once a polite and proper term. In fact, the term is still used in the name of the NAACP. Now, the term is considered offensive for the most part.

Or take neutral terms. Retarded and retardation were once just medical terms. Those terms were once used in names of organizations, "Center for Mental Retardation." Now, they use terms like "mentally challenged," "developmentally delayed," or "developmental disorders."

No, but I have noticed the appalling lack of education in these questions. When people misspell, do not use proper grammar or punctuation.

Simple...just be sure that whatever you want to say you say it honestly and respectfully. Its not what you say as much as how you say it.
