I am a new mom....lately my 6 month old little girl is sleeping more. She will take a 30 min nap in the morning...but then sleep 3-3 1/2 hours in the afternoon....is this normal?? I know most parents would love this...I just worry that something is wrong.
She is also cutting down on what she eats. She eats cereal in the morning, a LITTLE bit of her bottle...then veggies in the afternoon...not much more bottle, then veggies at night...cereal b4 bed. My concern is that she is not drinking a lot...again is this normal?? Maybe I am just being too worrisome...my husband and mother say that she will drink when she is thirsty...is this right??
Please dont think I am silly for asking these questions...lol lol...
Thanks for reading

Chances are she's just growing.

Has she spent the last week just eating and eating?

If so, she's just growing.

Try giving her more and more water and formula in cups. She will drink when she's thirsty, but formula (or breast milk) is the main staple of her nutrition.

Try giving her a cup of water with her rice cereal or oatmeal. Just leave a cup or bottle of water out when she is playing (rolling around).

It's perfectly normal and your hubby and mom are right on the money. I have a 4 yr old and an 8 month old. And the older the baby gets the less bottle she'll need . She'll have her days where she might be ravinous and hungry all the time. Other days you might notice she only drank 2 bottles at the most. I notice on the days where I'm busy and have to run around and do errands all day are the days where she doesnt eat and drink that much. Nothing's wrong with it. I notice with my daughter that if she's preoccupied with playing or we are out and about and visiting different people and places that she's just not that hungry. And the sleeping. Be greatful for it. Unless she starts acting sick or lathargic and kinda dopey , her sleeping like that is fine. My own daughter does the same. Usually has a short nap in the mid mornin and by 1 or 2 pm she's ready for a 2 or 3 hour nap.

She is having a growth spurt! This is very normal and happens around 2 months, 4 months and 6 months. It will probably happen again at the 8 month mark as well. You will notice her sleeping more and then less. As for the bottles, just make sure she is taking in 16-24 oz. a day. This will include whatever formula you may add to her bottle. I don't think you are silly at all, I have 4 children and worry about each one!! God Bless!

This is very normal. My little one did and still does the same thing on occasion. This will pass. Just like us we have days were we don't want to eat as much as others. One thing I did notice with my little one is that she became lazy at the bottle. I went to Walmart and bought the nuk brand bottle nipples. They have two sizes. These nipples leak out from the hole very fast. She went from drinking one to two ounces to 4 and then 6 ounces. They say to put the hole at the top of the mouth but my little one likes the hole on the tongue. Be careful when you put the bottle in the mouth though it'll leak on her shirt!

As for the sleeping yes this is normal. Unfortunatly when she"ll become more mobile she might not sleep as much. At her age she should still be taking two and even on occaision three naps a day. She's just combining them together. Her morning nap is just a battery charge to hold her off until her afternoon nap. As long as she's sleeping well at night I wouldn't worry.

Enjoy your little one cause they grow up too fast!

Well if you just had your 6 month check up, the doctor would tell you if something needed to be changed. Normally they need food every few hours after birth, because their bodies have a high rate of metabolism and little stomachs. The Metabolism does slow and the solids they are starting to eat, take longer to break down than the liquid breastmilk. So you are do nothing wrong probably.

stop worrying for the time your baby takes to sleep ,its normal if your six month child sleeps that lot after all a baby of this age does only eat, drink ,sleep and also normal that she eat a lot there are child that are always hungry but take care not to give her food more than she need maybe if you decrease 2 of the 4 bottle of food you give her and replace it by two bottle of milk it would be nice then she will drink she don't have the capacity to ask you what she need you are the only one to take the decission for now.

Not at all. Maybe have a look at a Pediatrician. Also: www.howstuffworks.com You'll have to pick and choose the right wording but I'm sure you can find just about anything on anything on that site. I once looked up stuff like ' floaters ' and ' leukemia ' and got scrolls of stuff. Newborns are active little people. That does sound out of the ordinary.

YES IT'S NORMAL!

Babies don't grow evenly and steadily every single day... they eat large amounts of food sometimes and all of a sudden they stop eating as much and then start sleeping for long periods of time...

Why? They are going through a growth spirt!

Sleeping is when the body heals and grows the fastest.

Don't worry about it, your baby will tell you when she is hungry, cranky, not hungry and awake. All you have to do is take care of her and let nature take its course.

I just wish adults would learn to stop eating when they are not hungry and eat as healthy as babies do... We wouldn't have an obesity and diabetes problem.

appears like your toddler is a cat napper rather of a protracted haul napper. My first could take one or 2 fairly long naps, yet my now seven month old is like your toddler. She takes short extra conventional naps. there is not any longer something incorrect with it...right it is a few useful information
