Because having at least two is a normal thing to do. Sisters may be annoying when you're kids, but when you grow up they can be your best friend. My sis and I hated each other growing up, but now I couldn't imagine life without her.

They will have one child then another because either they want more than one child, they love taking care of a newborn, they want to use every egg possible (menopause waits for no one), or they just don't want the other child to be alone sometimes.

The good thing about a brother or a sister, is that they are there if you need them for a chat, to play games with, or even for a hug. They will be there.

Ya know...it's your parents decision...not your's. Typically people have an idea how many children they want to have when they get married. I have three brothers myself - although two are morons and I don't talk to them at all anymore. The younger brother and I HATED each other growing up. It was not until we were well into our 20s that we finally started seeing eye to eye on things and getting along great.

Parents do this because when they have died you won't be all alone (without family), you'll always have a sister. Sisters are your greatest resource in the future, they are the only people who remember your shared past.

PS Sisters never stop annoying you, it just slows down alot.

Sisters are only annoying when the two girls concerned are immature enough to let the other get on their nerves...

But when they both grow up and mature, sisters can be great friends.

I think it's because the parents have brothers and sisters themselves. They want their kid to have sisters also because they don't want them to be an only child.
