I'm over 30, but I can still hear the Mostquitotone that is only supposedly audible to teens and people in their 20s? I don't just hear it either. I can feel it in my jaw. What's up with that? Isn't there supposed to be some hearing loss I had so I couldn't hear it? My students and their dumb ringtone I'm not supposed to hear... Feh.

Great site reference Kperry1911! Wow, I have an almost exact line I can draw on the kHz where I can no longer hear it! Cool... almost... Kind of annoying I can't hear something.

Chalk it up to little damage to your ears via the aging process...

I can still hear some tones in the 17KHz range, but tried the experiment with Higher frequencies on my 8yr old and 22 month old and they were easily able to hear >21KHz.

One thing I did find is that some tones call "mosquito" tones are around 14-17kHz ranges and some 30somethings, if not older can still hear these to some extent. The best tones for kids to use to "get by" on us old 30 somethings is the upper end of their range.

Here's a good site with various ranges of tones: http://www.ultrasonic-ringtones.com/

You can hear the tone because you haven't done a significant amount of damage to your hearing. The mosquitoe tone was designed to irritate the youth and make them not loiter in certain areas. In general, most people who have lived in cities and been exposed to loud noises in life are not able to hear the tone after a certain age.

For you, it means you can hear very well, don't be upset!

I think it's crap, I could hear it loud and clear. Now I am in my 20s but my teenage niece couldn't hear it. It depends on your hearing sensitivity which is not always predictible by age.
