Hello in mandarin is pronouced as "way(2)"
Cantonese is "why(2)". Exactly how why is read.
Not sure why you had the (4) next to "wei". But if you know (1), (2), (3), (4) of mandarin. Then I'm sure you can get the sound of "way(2)"....

It's more like, 'way'. However, in English, we tend to give it a dipthong. In Mandarin, it is a shorter sound.

According to the dialect you are talking about. If you are talking about mandarin, then it is more of the "way" sound. If it is cantonese, it is more of a "why" sound. Yeah, quite odd how one language is so different.

It's more like "way"... "ei" (in Pinyin) is usually like the English "ay"
For example, Beijing is pronounced "BAY-jing"

absolutely........way......my wife is chinese. everytime she answers the phone, she says..........wei, ni hao............i asked her the same exact question.. now we both know...........
