I have seen on Animal Planet's Aniaml Cops, where they had rescued flea infested dog with puppies and trust me, THEY flea bathed pups that barely had their eyes opened!!!

If you REALLY need to bathe the pup, there is a product that I know you can buy at (ack) Walmart called Nature's Guardian that is ALL natural contents that are NON harmful to pets.
I use it and it does work, though it stinks bad at first.
It is made of natural oils (peppermint, cinnamon, lemon grass, clove and thyme oils.) comes in a green container and (I believe) is in shampoo and powder form so that you can use it on the carpets, pet bed area or what have you. (fleas are not just on the dog, they live in the carpet.)
Good luck.

take him to the vet. he might be whinning because the fleas are biting him and he may even have an infection depending on how long this flea situation has lasted. My chihuahua whinned whenever we left him alone at first, at night, and when he was cold... but that has stopped. flea shampoo cannot be used on puppies and regular puppy shampoo will not remove the fleas so it is essential to contact a vet. good luck

If he is crawling with fleas you need to address that immediately. I took my puppies into the vet for there shots at 71/2 weeks and although they had no fleas, the vet gave us a free sample of Advantage for puppies 7 weeks and older, under 10 lbs.. IT is expensive but I would use nothing else for my dogs. This would take care of the fleas right away. IT is crying constantly because the fleas are biting it constantly. The fleas need to be taken care of one way or another, either Advantage or flea bath.

Get him into the vet so they can get rid of the fleas. You can bathe a puppy at 6 weeks of age or if you're afraid of the cold you can also sponge bathe with a wet soapy wash rag then rinse.

The fleas are a major issue though. The vet might need to dip or have the dog professionally washed. Fleas can infest your home, and worse yet if they become out of hand poison your puppys blood stream which can be fatal. In the 80's my Mom had a German Shepard who got infested and they had to put her down.

Fleas are a big problem. If you want to give your dog
a bath remember that won't get rid of the fleas. You need
to buy something to kill them, that won't be harmful to your
pet. I don't suggest using this to prevent fleas but you can
use it once until you see your vet. Go and buy some flea
powder and hold your pup over the bath tub while you put
it on him. Don't get it in his eyes. Wait an hours and than
give him a bath. Most of the fleas will be dead, however,
fleas lay eggs so the powder is only a short term solution.
You need to see your vet and he will help you to get rid
of them for good.

Anytime, your puppy can be bathed at anytime as long as the water is warm, the environment is warm and he stays warm until dry.

I use a hair dryer on my puppy. I only bathe him once a month or so because I use advantage for the fleas and it can wash off.

Be careful of getting water in his ears. He can get an infection from water in his ears. Chihuahuas can't always shake the water from their ears because of the way they are constructed.

Girl, we have raised puppies for years and the best thing to use on little ones is Ivory dish soap. There are no harmful chemicals in it that will hurt the puppies, but it gets rid of the fleas.

minimum counseled age for a flea tub is 8 weeks. I do believe even with the undeniable fact that that benefit has a clean formula for youthful doggies even with the undeniable fact that it could be maximum suitable to learn with your vet. benefit may be the extra appropriate therapy by way of fact, the flea tub purely seems after the fleas on the canines. Any of the little moochers that are wandering around your place will discover the puppy and the cycle will initiate as quickly as extra. benefit gets those in the homestead besides has those on the canines. On typical we groomers remind you that for each flea on your canines, there's 1000 eggs waiting to hatch on your place.

As i said previously last time you asked, you do not want to use flea bath on your puppy (a normal bath will not remove fleas). take him to the vet and they can give him something made for puppies for fleas.
