There are several fundamental flaws with your question. For one, the Christian bible (old and new testament) talks about the past, the present and the future. Examples of the future is Revelations. It's referring to an Armageddon, birth of the antichrist and return of Jesus, that has not happened yet. In this case, it is impossible to prove the bible is 100% true until those events happen.

Second, you're running under the assumption that Christians need to believe the bible is 100% accurate in order to maintain faith. This is a false assumption because the very word 'faith' implies doubt, and lack of evidence. Afterall, if the bible is 100% correct, why do I need to believe in it anymore? I would know it as a fact like mathematics. Christians are not irrational people. Believe it or not, we're normal people like you, and some of us aren't born Christians. I was an atheist for the longest time. For some Christians, we believe because there is adequate evidence to suggest the legitimacy of our faith. In other words, while it is currently impossible to prove the bible 100% true, it is also impossible to prove the bible 100% wrong. This is important because it means we are not believing in something that is obviously absurd. As a matter of fact, there are scientific evidence that support the existence of not only a god, but specifically the Judao/Christian/Islamic God (since they're all referring to the same God). Check out the link I've provided about astronomy, origins of the universe and God.

Third, and this is the most difficult one. In order to prove the bible is 100% true, we need to understand the bible 100%. The bible was originally not written in English (Neither the old nor new testaments). What we are reading are translations. This leads to several fundamental problems, because although we can translate words, this is an imperfect process. In our translations, we have lost the original meanings of the text. For example, the world 'love' used throughout the new testament is actually substituting for 4 or 5 different words for love in Greek. This means the reader who reads the English version, may not fully understand which 'love' the bible is talking about. In addition to this, there are words that are just impossible to translate and were probably omitted. Not to mention we have the bias of the interpreter. And also both testaments were written about 2,000+ years ago. Have you ever read Shakespeare and didn't understand all of it even though it was originally in English? And that was only written several hundreds of years ago. Even within the same language, our word usage, colloquisms and references become outdated. A clever witty analogy that makes sense today may confuse people living 2,000 years later.

We can never claim to understand the bible 100%, so we cannot prove the bible is 100% true. However, it isn't necessary to do this to have valid, even scientific, faith in Christianity.

If you really dig into the historical facts about the Bible, then the logical truth that you come away with is that it has to be true. There is a ton of evidence, but here are a few reasons that convinced me:

1) No one disputes the authenticity of the Bible. Even non-believer scholars recognize the book as a verifiable ancient document.
2) The Bible is a collection of writing from many different writers over thousands of years, but there are no contradictions. There are people who don't understand translations that would say there are, but if these so called intellectuals knew what they were talking about they would see they are wrong.
3) The most compelling evidence is in the prophecy. Prophecy written thousands of years before Jesus ever walked the earth prophesied his birth, life and death right down to the details. The only logical explanation is that the prophecy was God given.

I was as skeptical as many of the people who doubt the Bible's authenticity; however after I took an objective, hard look at the evidence there was only one conclusion. The Bible HAS to be true.

If you want to go further, try www.equip.org. There is a lot of really good info there that will help explain the evidence better than I ever could.

God bless you.

Have you considered the reliability of the bible? Ignore for the moment the whole notion of God and just think about the book's content.

Some have claimed that the bible is no more accurate that Homer's Iliad. I respectfully disagree and the table shown at the link below clearly demonstrates my argument that the Bible is one of the most accurate sources for the events described in it.

Investigation will also reveal that there exists NO SINGLE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY that has been shown to prove error, factually or doctrinally, in the Bible. There is lots of speculation and hypotheses, but not a single verifiable fact.

To make this claim alone is quite a feat for ancient texts, but when you add to it the fact that the Bible was written over more than 1,500 years by forty vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology.

While all of my questions will never be definitively answered, I find that rationally my belief is on solid ground. There are many things in the world we do not fully understand or “see”, yet we have no problems in believing them. For example, solar physics is not fully known, yet we all objectively accept, using faith and scientific discourse, the "fact" that the sun will rise tomorrow.

Why is it we can believe in many things using rational analysis, even when what we believe is only partially known, yet when it comes to matters like a supreme being, we suddenly want the "show me beyond a shadow of doubt" proof? As Aristotle once stated, "It is the mark of an instructed mind to rest satisfied with the degree of precision which the nature of the subject admits, and not to seek exactness when only an approximation of the truth is possible."

Even if you were given absolute proof, you would not accept it, so why bother with such a question. In God's time, the world will discover that every word in the Bible is true, God is real, and yes, we all needed a Savior (Jesus Christ.) You would do well to study the Bible with an open mind and a receptive heart instead of spending your time trying to disprove it. Like it or not, God really does love you very much and you will not change that. :)

The Bible can only be believed by faith in what the Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross for you. He died for your sins, He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the thrid day for your justification. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Do you realy want to take a chance that the Bible is not true? What if by chance it is correct about hell?

Can't really answer your questions as I believe myself to be a CIT (christian in training). But I will say this: I rather believe in something (that there is a God and the Bible is God-inspired) and in the end find out there's nothing to it than to go through life believing the Bible is a meaningless book and find out I was wrong in the end. Hope that makes sense.

No one can say the Bible is 100% true, Christians or Jews. And frankly if the deciding factor of faith for you is literary accuracy you've missed the point.

Yes. The red Sea Scrolls corroborate the Bible's history. No one can 'prove' or 'disprove' documents that were written thousands of years ago as 100% anything. In fact, 100% doesn't exist except in Stats/Econ Classes. However, no other form of religious belief can prove itself to be 100% true either. So what's your point?????
