I'm not telling you what to do...but...

Quakers are evil little monsters. Of course they're cute and cuddly and sweet and loveable to begin with. But, the second they hit sexual maturation, all holy hell breaks loose. They change, and rarely if ever do they go back to their cute loveable normal selves.

I don't know how much money you have to spend, but instead of a Quaker who's going to turn evil in year or two, I'd get something a little more mentally stable. Eclectus's are good (males are nicer than females), Blue Crown Conures, or Green Cheek Conures are good if you don't mind noise, and if you find the right one, Amazon's (particularly Double Yellow Headed Amazons) are great.

I didn't mention any of the smaller birds, because I'm assuming that you are looking for something larger than a cockatiel. They always tell you that Quakers are awesome...but I do rescue, and the most given up birds I see all the time are Quakers and Cockatoos.

I am no expert. But a breeder a told me that most of the time a bird will choose a favorite of the opposite sex. But that does not always matter. We did have a quaker. We had to sell her because we moved to a state where they are illegal. And I was more or less concerned with her/him living a long healthy life, instead of being put to sleep.
We also have a Cinnamon Green Cheek conure. She is still a baby, and very nippy, although she is getting better. But if you are at all concerned about noise, I would not recommend a Quaker. OUr green cheek is extremely quiet. Even at her loudest it does not compare to the Quaker we had. I do miss my Medinah a great deal. SHe had the sweetest personality. I miss her telling me "I love you" every time she saw me.

Good luck, and if you decide to get a quaker make sure they are legal to have in your state. Kentucky is very strict, we moved here from Ohio, in Ohio they are illegal if the wings are not clipped.

I really have a eco-friendly male quaker. yet, i imagine of it relies upon on the fowl. now no longer the gender or color. though I really have heard adult males are fairly a lot less aggressive than women individuals. It in simple terms takes bonding and time to have a fowl journey gentle round you to guide them to the cuddliest. =D

It doesn't matter whether male or female it depends on the age of a bird whether they bond with you you will find if you buy a hand reared one that is just weaned then regardless of sex they will form a lifetime bond.
