First off, a route is a road. It's isn't that money is the root of all evil, it is the love of money that is the root of all evil. The offering that is taken in churches goes to make things possible -- some goes to missionaries oversees that the church may support, some goes to other projects in the local mission community, some will go to the general budget that will help for the upkeep of the building, some will go for salaries of staff, and others may go to scholarship funds or funds made for emergencies. It's a practical thing. Someone has to pay the power bill.

Money is not the root of all evil, the love of money is (1 Timothy 6:9-10) However, those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.
*** w92 1/15 p. 19 par. 19 Jehovah Loves Cheerful Givers ***
Early Christians did not pass collection plates or practice tithing by donating a tenth of their income for religious purposes. Rather, their contributions were completely voluntary. Tertullian, who was converted to Christianity about 190 C.E., wrote: “Though we have our treasure-chest, it is not made up of purchase-money, as of a religion that has its price. On the monthly day [apparently once a month], if he likes, each puts in a small donation; but only if it be his pleasure, and only if he be able; for there is no compulsion; all is voluntary.”—Apology, Chapter XXXIX.

The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Money is a tool. You can use it to feed the poor, house the homeless. Having moeny, you can do good things. But if your love for the cash overrides any good that it might do then that love is the root of the evil in your life.
Churches ask their members to donate becasue it it requied of them to give a portion of their earnings to the work of God.
Unlike other organizations, churches can't go to the governent as ask for a handout to keep the lights on.

LOVE of money is root of evil, not money itself.
Why do they ask for money in church? It's called BILLS. The church is completely supported by donations. The building, workers salaries, the programs, and helping the poor requires resources.

Route or root? The love of money is the root of all evil. The Bible tells us that. Do you feel that you are evil if you possess money or if you need to ask for it from your parents or friends? We all need money in order to survive. That's how it is in a capitalistic society. Placing God and the like in front of money is evil. For what will a man profit if he gains the world and loses his soul. Besides that, all churches aren't the same. Ciao.

The church while it deals with the spiritual needs of the people is also concerned about the termporal needs of its membership. We are mortal, and God instructs us to help your neighbor, and that includes helping them with food and housing so that they can live too. I think each person has a responsibility to look after the neighbor and sometimes money is needed. A church facilitates the needs of many and so naturally they are a center point for donations.

haha, it's actually called giving your "tithe". 10% of what you make is supposed to go to the church, it's in the Bible somewhere. It's more of an offering.
I think the pursuit of money is the root of evil.
"Money is the physical symbol of man's successful use of his mind in the area of production -- whose success is essential to the support of his life. How can this be the root of evil? It cannot. In truth, money is not the root of all evil, but is the root of all good."

Money is not the root of all evil. the LOVE of money is. Read up on your topic before asking so you don't look stupid.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

MONEY, IN AND OF ITSELF IS NOT THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL - THE BIBLE SAYS THE LUST OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL AS IT PROVOKES ONE TO BEHAVE IN WAYS THAT ARE EVIL TO OBTAIN THE GREEN PAPER ...1 TIM 6:12 : For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

How do you propose we pay for the building? The heating? The hymm books? The tea afterwards? The flowers? The sunday school? The various other clubs there are? Church goers don't mind paying to support their church, it's what people do.
You just made a bit of a prat of yourself huh?
