I have been looking for a California penal code that forbades teachers from forcing students to come in to there class during break time ex. lunch/brunch, and do work. I know there is a penal code that states that breacks are student's personal time and should not be violated. If you could find the penal code that states this please respond. My teacher forces us to come every Friday brunch and do work in her class. The students who fail to show up, loose a big percentage of their grade. If you could find the penal code I would be very greatful. Thanks a lot for your help!

Sweetheart! What does penal [as in prison ?] has to do with schools laws or regulations? If a student is behind , and the teacher ,and here Iam cautious; feels that this student will benefit from more school work, so be it , but if the teacher is a male and the student is a male ,I would as a parent question this , as the student can always do extra homework at his home! I question all these incidents , because of recent abuses by male teachers on their male students! Iam not saying all male teachers are same, but a parent must be CAUTIIOUS! and always ASK foer the reason! If u r a boy student and the teacher is a man and for any reason you feel un confortable being alone with this person , speak too the principal and most of all your parents! But speak up! Hugs, blessings!

as long as you're inside the school during regular school hours, you don't have free time. teachers give up their breaks to get the work from their students that the students should have had done in the first place. detention isn't against the law either. just show up and be glad your teacher cares enough to give you all another chance.

Your looking in the wrong place, try the Califronia Ed Code.

By the way, be glad you have a teacher willing to give up his/her time to try and go the extra mile for the students.

Education might be a right in this country, but a good education is not - you get what you put into it.

no, it's not illegal....copy this page and print it, read it in 15 years...you'll have a different view of what your teacher is doing. also remember, your break time is her break time too. whether or not you see it, she's going out of her way to help you....which sounds like a needed task...this wouldn't be a "penal" code. you're not in prison yet.

PENAL CODE...you are so wrong....In school there is NO PERSONAL TIME..you are there on the SCHOOL'S time...to get an education...not to HAng with your friends or socialize..but to learn..If you do not comlete the work when assigned..aka homework..classwork..time must be found to get you to do it....
IF you spent the time doing your work rather than trying to figure out how to get out of it...you would have it all done....

Seems like the teacher is taken advantage of you guys.
Report the teacher to the principal or write the principal
a note.
Go on your school website and report her to the school board.
Sounds illegal and unfair, do something about it quick.

Gee, a teacher that actually makes her students WORK. She just wants you to be successful and be accountable for your actions. That's all. It's called life. So suck it up and move on.
