LOL! ah the joys of dog ownership! hehe. This is pretty gross as well, but funny and your story reminded me...
My friend had a springer spaniel, who ate one of those sticky toys that come out of $ .25 machines at the grocery store. One end is a hand and the whole thing is sticky/gooey. Anyways, her dog ate it, and went to poo and the gooey hand part was hanging out, she had to do that same thing to help him out! Poor ol guy, it was funny though.

My dog got into my daughter's hair barrettes (the little kind that are round and fuzzy) And ate about 100 or more of them. Well needless to say in a few days our yard was a colorful mess of hair ties! It was funny to us because she had no problem passing them! LOL
