Instead of looking and acting professionally police officers are now dressed in only half of their uniforms and in many instances act worse than thugs. They treat suspects like scum and yet a police officer has just been done for molesting a child and another for deception over who was driving his car when caught speeding. He delayed that for long enough to be granted a pension (at least that is being investigated and he is to spend time in jail when all he needed was to come clean and pay his fine like all law abiding citizens. PS. Please remove the gum from your mouth before speaking to suspects.

YES they should quieten things down a bit. they have a continual flow for showing themselves to be involved in something serious. i was arrested in 2001 for murder(which i had no involvement) it was complete overkill. they grabbed me and my misses from our home without allowing us to arrange proper supervision for our 2 boys aged 4 and 14 at the time, it was lucky my parents live close by, but they shut down the whole village and made sure everyone got the chance to see what was going on. they had 18 forensic numpties in full whites who spent 12 hours ripping my house to bits. even now the majority of the village shun us, and my youngest who is now ten, is afraid to stay away from home in case we ain't here when he gets back.
then i spent 13 moths on remand in Doncaster and Strangeways, and when they took me to court it was in a 13 tonner armoured plated van by myself, we were escorted by bike outriders and helicopters and armed response. the shut down various parts of motorways so i could go the wrong way rather than go through the towns. at Lincoln Crown Court which is also a tourist attraction, they closed it to the public and placed armed guards all round. this did not help my case in any manner, but i was eventually released after it was found that the police bugged our conversations with our solicitors. the officers involved hung things out till they got their pensions as well. we ended up with nothing.

Mmm, wonder if you've ever been a suspect...
Haven't you got anything better to do then ask a question like this? Being so loud when doing the job? Pathetic.
However, in answer to the question, one of the reasons things are done so loud is to make sure the public, a lot of whom are usually crowding round telling you how to do the job, can hear what you are saying so there is evidence about how you do the job in case there are any allegations later on, which there usually are.
E.g. If you are detaining someone who is struggling, you would usually shout the command 'stop struggling' for 2 reasons.
A. To make sure the suspect hears
B. To make sure the public hear that you actually gave the command because then when you take further action, as a result of the command being ignored, you can justify the necessary increase in the level of force used when the member of public complaining about you using excessive force makes their complaint that the suspect was doing nothing wrong.
As for appearance, I always iron my shirts, wear my tie, clean my boots and never chew gum when speaking to people.
Don't tar us all with the same brush.

okay, so there are thousands of policemen in the UK, and you have got dirt on two of them. Child abuse is a heinous crime, but I think had very little to do with him being a policeman, the speeding one, he has the knowledge to work the system to try and avoid a penalty, what human wouldn't try it?
As for you saying they should be quiter as they work, have you ever tried to arrest someone who doesn't want to be arrested? I don't mean have you had a couple of half arsed scraps outside a club, I mean have you ever tried to physically detain someone who did not want to be? I think perhaps no, or you wouldn't say such a ridiculous thing. If you went to see your mother on sunday as many of us will, and you get there to find your father murdered and your mother raped, who are you going to go to for help? Who will make your vendetta their own and move heaven and earth to find who did it and bring them to justice? Who is going to sit with you 24hours a day seven days a week if your child goes missing? The police give up their days off when a child is lost, they do an amazing job, and what annoys me is, the people who complain, whether they have been caught speeding or been arrested for being drunk or whatever, they have broken the law! But they deem themselves above it obviously, and then when that day comes when they desperatley need the help and recources of the men and women they criticise the help will not be denied them.
Oh yes, you can say what you want about them, you can even break the law as much as you like, and then if you are a victim they still will help you as best they can. Justice? I think not

These men and women put their lives on the line everytime they step out of the door to protect us!!! They put up with being called pigs and scum constantly from the people they try to protect. They have to up hold the law whilst putting up with abuse and prisoners whining on about their human rights.

Of course there are going to be a couple of bad eggs in the whole force but this does not make the whole force bad. Policemen and women these days wear a lot more uniform than in the old days (for example they all wear stab vests now to protect against the growing number of little thugs that wander about the streets carrying knives)

I dont care what uniform they are wearing as long as they are safe whilst carrying out their job protecting members of the public like YOU and me.

Remember that the next time some little hoodie tries to mug you for your mobile and then see whether you care whether the arresting officer is chewing gum or not

Out of 145000 police three have been bad boys. How many towns with a population like that have only three offenders it is testimony to the honesty of the police in general.(At least to anybody with half a brain)

well i disagree!!!your practicall being a hipacrit!!

because a few police officers do evil/bad things the rest of them have to put up with being called THUGS???

police handle suspects they way it is appropraite to handle them. yes theres being cases of power handling and policemen taking it to there heads but not all poice do that so the rest of them that are just doing there jobs need to be taking in to consideration!

ive always been treated well in the presence of any police officer! sometimes us (the people) need to remeber that police officers are REAL PEOPLE TO!

This IS NOT a forum. This website is for questions and answers, Its not so you can just ask random mundane questions to try to justify your boredom. Its supposed to be a genuinely useful source of knowledge, but people like you just keep dragging it down.
