I called this guy I fancy. I casually had a chat with him and ask him out for coffee or a drink and he says no, he can't next week as he is travelling on business. I say, ok then, no worries. Then we chat some more and he tells me "Good luck" - I was telling him about how I am looking for work and then I ask: "is that good luck or good luck an don't call me again?" an he replies "Close to that, yes..." and I say "oh...ok then, at least I know...can't we be friends even?" to which he replies: "We have nothing in common." I'm gutted as we always did have things in common in the past 6 months while at work, but here you are....
What do you think of this?

Sounds like a total git and you deserve much better friends than someone whose head is so far up his back side!
Dont contact him again, he knows you like him and to knock you back in such a manner is plain nasty, forget him sweetheart, he really aint worth a carrot!

Ouch! That's so blunt. But I guess in a way, it's good because you won't waste your time on him anymore. You've already wasted 6mth mooning over him. It's the best for the both of you and I hope you can see it this way. I know it hurts being rejected, but if it's not meant to be, you guys will break up too eventually, and that will hurt even more. Relationship is like a root, so the longer it is, the harder it is to pull it out. Since nothing ever happen, it won't hurt as much right now for you. Be thankful that this problem is solved :)

i think hes got some nerve and you deserve better ! forget him find someone else if he likes you he will die of jealousy! maybe hes playing hard to get i hate it when men do that , for your own sake dont chase him! it will only make him look big infront of his mates, if i was you id use a little reverse psychology on him! see how he likes it , if he likes you he be sooo annoyed and if hes not bothered then at least you know! good luck whatever you decide!

something similar to that happened to me, i was so torn up about it, felt awful for a long while, then i realized that he is just another guy that i really liked and not necessarily the one for me. i stopped wanting to be his friend eventulally. Just forget about him, i know i did.

obnoxious git,i am sorry though. but really do not bother your backside with him,you even offered your friendship,poor you, i would say its his loss.what goes around comes around, you take care of you and to be perfectly honest he does not deserve your friendship.drop it and try and move on.
