Start with simple things for example if your young enough to be at school talk to him about homework or test if your adults just talk about current events. The most important thing isto not be so nervous.

Just start off with a "hi" and smile. Guys love it when a girl looks at them and smiles. Maybe ask him a couple of questions from what you observe of him.
Girls who do this to me always make me interested in them.
For example, I was on an elevator with a girl and she liked my shirt and complimented my shirt and asked me where I got it. I had plenty to talk to her just from that little question.

Just talk to him like you would anyone else. Comment about something you have in common, like a class or the weather or movies.

well for starters DON'T act ditzy and say hi and give a compliment! that is so cheesy and i hate that!
i would walk up and possibly give a small insult (just to get em going, you know guys like the one who doesn't like them, right?) then i would just kinda act as if i am interested but make him work for it....and i know that you can fill in the rest! lol

just kinda start a simple conversation introduce yourself to him and talk to him find out some more things about it find out what intersts him
