How can you burn fat by stretching?

to be completly honest with you i just started doing yoga.... it involves stretching but also involves using your own body weight and holding hold positions for a long period of time. I have never been so tierd after working out and my boyfriend couldnt even finish the video....

Yoga is not only stretching it is also controled breathing and core concentration. Stretching, breathing and concentrating on your core burns calories. Streching lengthens muscles so they are not bulking up, lean muscle weighs less. Controlling your breathing can speed up and slow down your heart rate, again burning calories. Try sitting with your back straight and abs held in and breath deeply, but let your breath out slowly. Inhale through your nose and exhale out your mouth. Now try for 1 minute breathing only 6 breaths. Good stuff! You can truely get a great cardio work out with Yoga! Good luck!

any form of execise will burn calories. with a good diet and exercise program you will lose any excess weight and also build some muscle depending on what sort of workouts you do. yoga will allow you to gain leaner muscle mass. read tips on some great weight loss programs and exercises including yoga on this site
