I say wear a little cocktail type dress. Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom should have some great selections. Something chic, perhaps by Diane Von Furstenberg or BCBG. Knee length, light color... good luck!
(Probably run you about $400)

That's so funny you ask this because my fiance and I just went to get our marriage license yesterday and we saw two other couples who were doing the court marriage deal.
One bride was wearing this brown strapless dress that came to her calves. I'd say it was semi-casual.
The other bride, which frankly I consider a bit Gothic was wearing all black. Black sleeveless dress that came to her knees, black stockings that had some funky design and black stilettos.
Granted it's only you two, wear what you feel pretty in. It's a special moment and granted it's just the two of you it's how you feel that matters.
P.S. the family members with these couples were more dressed up than the couples were. One sister was wearing a prom dress.

Wear whatever YOU want! I had a courthouse ceremony as my 3rd (& hopefully last!) wedding. I wore an nice white sweater & dressy pants -- but other brides arrived in business suits, floral skirts, flowing dresses..there were even a couple of fancy wedding gowns(!). Just keep in mind though, that's it's an express choice. You'll be done in 10 minutes, so spend accordingly.

Long Flowy. Or, do what I did, go to a bridal store and look at all their prom dresses that are from last season. I found a white dress that looked like a wedding gown, but it was a prom gown from last season, and since it was from last season, i only paid $35 for it. Perfect.

Are you anywhere near Cincy? E-mail me; here or through my site. I will perform the ceremony for nothing if you are.

At the courhouse you will see everything from jeans & a t-shirt
to full wedding attire. Of course you want to look great. Wear something that makes you feel good.
I just did a private ceremony for a couple and she was like, WOW. And it was such an intimate ceremony between the two of them & God, that I was honored to share.

Go with whatever kind of dress you feel like. My wife and I went to the courthouse and still dressed to the nines. I wore a tuxedo and she had a standard wedding dress. We did pictures in the park afterwards and had a reception.

A traditional weding gown is not appropriate for a courthouse ceremony. You can wear any pretty daytime dress (long gowns are for evening, not daytime), or even a nice women's suit.
Be sure to send out wedding announcements immediately afterwards.

Wear a long dress you want to feel like a queen, and that will do it for you.

My wife and I were married in a courtroom and she wore a medium length skirt with a blouse and low heels. As for me, it was a nice shirt and tie with dress pants and dress shoes.
