Anything you see labeled 'detoxifying' or 'cleanser' (especially for the colon) is junk geared toward people who buy into the 'magic bullet' theory of better health. The body is a great self-cleanser. You liver, kidneys, intestines, and skin all work to rid the body of toxic substances. Unless you have some type of dysfunction, you don't need anything but a balanced diet and water to help clean your system. I've seen x-rays, and CAT scans of the digestive system thousands of times. There is not such thing as waste that does not move (unless again, there is some type of dysfunction). The intestine has food in it in various stages of digestion. It's supposed to, if you're eating regularly. There are no 'pocket' of undigested meat. You eat it, process it, absorb the protein and other nutrients, and it passes out when you have a bowel movement. Many patients are told to take a laxative the evening prior to surgery, then fast and purge (BM). When the surgery is performed, the intestine is EMPTY. Anyone who wants to 'clean' their colon simply needs to eat a bowl of stewed prunes. It's cheap, natural, healthy, and also provides the body with nutrition.
