Enviornmentalists are trying to panic the rational thinking people into believing the sky is falling. The only problem is all the science you're using is theory not fact. We (as in humans) are not destroying the planet. The planet may go through some cycles. But, we are not destroying it.

just going green may not be enough
we also have to be at peace with each other and co operate
the problems are universal
and so are the solutions
here are some possible ends of humanity

id say the atom bombs is right now the biggest danger

dont worry the planet will survive ,but it is unlikely that we will
many predictions are for the years between 2012 and 2020
Nostradamus, the mayas ,Egyptions Jesus ,and Terrance Mckennas time wave who put the magnetic output of the world into a computor projection that stopped at zero in 2012,this stops the globe and it starts turning into
the other direction ,the resulting change of currents will turn the planet into a giant washing machine cleaning the surface

then there are the meteor ,the gulf of Mexico is the result of one that would have made life exstinct for a while ,this would result in an other ice age if the globe is covered in dust

then there are natural disasters
Volcanos are coming to life everywhere
the weather has giant storms like hurricanes ,tornados ,tidal waves ,earth quackes

a shift of the earth crust ,like a changing of the poles
under Anrarctica were found fosilized tropical plants indication the pole must have been in a different place then (the mainland atlantis is thought to be under it )

Now we got Global warming to contend with (see my answer on global warming)

and the biggest threat to any species of exstinction is ,when there are too little ,and when there are too many ,so overpopulation is also a threat

and the USA appears to be gunning for a global nuclear conflict .it is most likely that this will get us first looking at present politics

the planet will probably survive unless humanities bombs result it to be knocked out of its orbit

so many ends to choose from
if it wasnt so serious it would be rediculous

meanwhile enjoy life .and make the most of it at least we are all in the same boat

OP there are billions of stars in our galaxy and better than likley hundreds of thousands of liveable planets, we've not explored the full galaxy yet. How could you probable say something stupid as "the only eco-friendly existence crammed planet in our galaxy, in keeping with risk the universe" you haven't any longer any clue what you're speaking approximately. If we don't kill ourselves with a nucular conflict we heavily isn't bested by using nature. we've won that conflict.

Well... when we run out of breathable air and/or drinkable water, yes. The chemicals that they are now adding to gasoline for the "ozone" is destroying drinkable ground water.
