I've wondered the same thing myself as I have seen wedding bands on the left hand (traditional in the U.S.) as well as on the right. Interesting to note, that on your wedding day you can wear your engagement ring on your right hand (ring finger) until you and your fiance present rings during the ceremony and then slip your engagement ring back onto your left hand (ring finger) above the wedding band.

I wear my wedding ring on my left hand but I have a friend who wears hers on her right hand (she doesn't like to be the same as everyone else)....I think the left hand is the more traditional place to wear a wedding ring...

In many countries (US included), it's the ring finger of the left hand. In some cultures, the wedding band is worn on the ring finger of the right hand (e.g., Russia).

In the United States, the wedding band is worn on the left hand, because that is the side of the body that the heart resides.
