Here is the breakdown on what is going on....

Corporations support the government (ie...lobbyist)---

In return the government supports the corporations need for cheap labor (because the lobbyist have paid them off)---

Therefore...the government supports illegal immigration (so the lobbyist will be happy about the cheap labor and keep giving them $$).

No one with money involved in this is pro amnesty because they love the people coming here....it is ONLY because it is driving down labor cost. It have no love for them...they only see them as dollar signs.

Does that break it down simply enough for all you proamnsty....er..."people". (and I use that word loosely!!!)

yes all people in construction should make minimun wage....

I see that some people just do not understand the big picture...

THE MORE PEOPLE WE HAVE IN A JOB MARKET THE LESS THAT MARKET WILL PAY.

My brother works construction (he is a supervisor) and he has seen the wages go down.

That's awesome...just what the American people need.

The government also understands that there is some jobs Americans will not do-What? The government also understands there are up to 20 million people here illegally. Since when did the government stop being the government and instead they now have become an employment office.Where does the government get all it's information from what's the break down to is who is doing what. If we go with American's want do jobs, how did we advance far enough along and have we have .When our families came here there were no roads, bathrooms or medical care. People came to work and not have the government take half of what you earn and simply give it to people that come here and take from you. Also, those coming have no interest in helping you, understanding you or policing themselves. They come here simply to take and bring all the bad they escape from with them and force it on you.
Let me add this to this question.LOS ANGELES – Churches in a handful of U.S. cities are preparing to launch a “sanctuary” movement to help illegal immigrants avoid deportation and unite faith-based groups in a push for immigration reform.
The “New Sanctuary Movement” is based on the sanctuary movement of the 1980s, when churches harbored Central American refugees who were fleeing wars in their home countries, said the Rev. Alexia Salvatierra, executive director of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, an interfaith association spearheading the plans.
“At the time we were able to make major changes and awaken the moral imagination of the community,” said Salvatierra. “Immigration today is still a human rights issue.”
Salvatierra said they were in the process of identifying immigrant families to assist, but declined further details.

The full plan, which includes other major U.S. cities, will be unveiled in several weeks, said Salvatierra, who is with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

The movement will enable congregations to provide “hospitality and protection” to some immigrant families whose legal cases “clearly reveal the contradictions and moral injustice of our current immigration system,” according to the New Sanctuary Movement's Web site.

The site lists Los Angeles, Chicago and New York as central cities.

The sanctuary movement of the 1980s included more than 200 churches of various denominations around the country. Several activists in a handful of states were arrested, often while transporting illegal immigrants from one place to another.

The new sanctuary plans come as immigration reform legislation has been stalled since last summer, with Congress split over whether to first strengthen border security and immigration laws or extend a path to citizenship to illegal immigrants.

The plans also come as hundreds of illegal immigrants have been detained and deported in immigration raids in recent months.

Local and national religious leaders from a dozen faiths – including Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian – have been meeting and planning for a few months, said Pastor Cesar Arroyo of San Pablo's Lutheran church in North Hollywood.

The group has been inspired by Elvira Arellano, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who has taken refuge at a Methodist church in Chicago since mid-August to avoid deportation, Arroyo said.

“We have to show that faith isn't just for church on Sunday,” said Arroyo. “We can't just say 'God bless you,' but if you are hungry or having problems we can't do anything for you.”

Individual churches have been investigating the implications, both legal and otherwise, of providing refuge to illegal immigrants, said Jorge Mario Cabrera, associate director of Carecen, a Hispanic advocacy group in Los Angeles, which also helped with the movement in the 1980s.

“Churches don't yet know what this will look like,” said Cabrera. “They don't know if by declaring themselves a sanctuary more than 100 people will show up, and then where will they house them?”

Kevin Appleby, director of migration and refugee policy for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said the conference would not support harboring illegal immigrants because it would be breaking the law.

Still, he said individual dioceses have much local autonomy.

“Local bishops have authority over their diocese and can instruct parishes to comply with the law or not,” he said. “But if it's done it puts the diocese at risk.”

No respectable individual commits a criminal offense the first actual 2d they enter a overseas united states. the in undemanding words reason illegals do not have any criminal list is because they have not been apprehended and charged. Amnesty helps those indecent human beings to develop into electorate without needing to attend and abide by ability of a similar regulations as others. that's a "cheater's bypass to the front of the line" in case you'll. that's a spit in the face to the hardworking regulation abiding immigrants who had the respect for our regulations and did issues the right way.

Do you mean things like Hilary Clinton used to be on the board for Walmart, until they suddenly got busted for hiring illegals (3 or 4 cases in Pennsylvania), and "coincidentally" all of a sudden her associations were severed?

I'm just pointing out one politician - certainly not making a party slam or anythng like that.

You've got it! And I can only compare the humanitarian liberals, who are aligning themselves with these labor exploitive capitalist, to the The Ginger Bread boy in that old folk tale. When the Fox got the Ginger Bread boy to the other side of the river: "And the little Ginger Bread boy never said anything more again."

I agree with you.

To Cora, how do you call letting someone continue to take funds from our education and health care appropriate punishment? If paying taxes were payment enough we'd let everyone in, but the poor can't pay their way in taxes.

To the guy above me, our schools are being ruined, as is health care, and our services are being drained when our baby boomers who paid into those services all of their lives are finally going to need them.

Their better life is at our expense.

Out of curiousity (and I agree with the general analysis) --

Are you including in "pro-amnesty" the proposals which say illegal immigrants should be convicted of a misdemeanor, forced to pay a fine (and any back taxes) and then be allowed to stay after filing the proper immigration paperwork?

Because by any legal definition, it doesn't count as amnesty if they person is convicted of a crime based on what they did. It's just making that crime more comparable to driving without insurance, rather than to stealing a car.

The government also understands that there is some jobs Americans will not do.Find me an American to be full time live in housekeeper/nanny/cook for $1000.00 a month. How many families will be able to afford help if there wasn't any alternative? This families most of the time depend on that help to work also.
On the other hand you all complain now but if there wasn't any illegals and farm workers demand $16.00+ per hour, full insurance, sick days and your tomato cost $2.00 then who are you going to complaint to?

Um, giving people amnesty makes them citizens. Citizens are guaranteed a minimum wage and safe labor conditions (or at the very least they have legal recourse). Citizens don't have to worry about being deported and are thus freer to organize and fight for a better wage. These immigrants are our brothers and sisters in arms.

That is why you should be pro amnesty.

I agree 100% with David S.

I have no problem WHATSOEVER with your first 3 paragraphs.

You made my point for me. It is the CORPORATIONS exploiting these people that should be vilified then, not the people who just want to work hard to have a better life.

Are YOU "getting it" yet?
