I am beginning to learn how to read tarot and I have a few questions:

If you are reading for others how do you answer questions like "What will he/she look like?" using tarot cards?? I mean, I have heard that certain suits can indicate whether a person is dark, medium or fair skinned as well as could indicate eye color.. but I really have no idea..

And also, how do you answer such questions like, when can I expect to meet him/her?

Or what do you tell a client that is asking some very specific and detailed question that tarot cards are not designed to answer. Or are there ways to answer every question?

Alot of this I know will deal with my own ability to read the cards and what I pick up from them...but there should be a way to get "help" from the cards to.

The many different tarot decks will all portray symbolic imagery which must then pass through your psychic senses and, given the context of the questions asked, bring forth a tarot card meaning that significantly answers your question.

If you are using Tarot cards as an oracle, you may be more inclined to read card meanings and spreads. But if using Tarot Cards as a tool for Psychic Ability you would be less likely to hold to any hard and fast guide lines. I’m a profession psychic and use Tarot Cards in a random way. In 25 years of professional readings I’ve never used any ‘meanings, spreads or reversals’ of tarot cards from any books.

So if you want to develop ‘Psychic Ability’ throw the books and guidelines away and let the images inspire you. But you may need to try the Rider Waite or another imaged deck.

I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense. The Psychic Sense.

But on the other hand, if you want to use the Tarot as an oracle, a form of divination that needs no real ‘psychic ability’, then keep the books and use the meanings and spreads if you prefer.

The art of Tarot isn't really about the cards but the user. The meanings o the cards aren't important you have to use your intuition and feeling about it to answer questions. But a technique I have used before is have the client cut the deck as usually then say, I will lay one card for each year until you meet him/her and then just lay out like four or five cards and which ever one sort of speaks to you and that you are drawn to as a yes than that is the year. The cards really are just cards nothing special a person must just use them as a way to direct you feelings and psychic ability. the cards don't work you work and you have to use the cards as batteries to help you work and translate your feelings. So just pick the card up and say what you specifically get from the card, don't bother to learn the meanings, you need to have your own meanings. Hope this helps and oh by the way it is real, and not satanic and those who say otherwise can suck it! Any questions e-mail me from my profile page!

If you just started be a bit more realistic. Tarot takes time to learn. I began learning to use Tarot at the beginning of 9th grade. My uncle gave me my first deck. It was the Rider Waite Tarot Deck.

I would say start of memorizing their meanings. Right side up, and up side down. After you have that down packed, try "SCRYING" the cards. Stare at each card, and dissect is symbolism for you. See the impressions, and most importantly take notes on each card!

Try and "meld" the text book definitions, and your own interpretations into one.

Once you start getting experience with this, after a while you will begin to get impressions, such as smells, strange vibes, and after a while you can even get "mental videos" that will be personally suited for the person.

Take your time. You won't be able to decipher dates, looks, or anything overly specific for a while.

Most importantly trust your intuition during a reading, dont be scared to recite your first impressions. But at the same time dont expect to much. Even though Tarot is one of the easier forms of divination, its still not easy to learn. There are 72 cards in a standard deck, with two meanings each. Just learning the 144 textbook meanings is somewhat difficult.

Take your time. Let things come when they do, when you push it, it will be harder for you to notice.

Good Luck!

It's a free course, and it seems to help a lot of first timers get started. A lot of this will have to do with your own intuition and the more you connect with the cards, the better the reading.

A lot of tarot readers will tell you to throw out the lessons and just go by what the cards mean to you.. they really are just a tool, sweetie.

Well, statistically about 30% of the cards in a reading should be Major Arcana. IE, in a 10 card Celtic Cross, you should expect to see 3 Trumps. If you see 5 or more, then that's statistically un-normal. If you see 1 or zero, then that's also un-normal. If I see an excess of Trumps, I tend to listen a little more attentively. It's almost as if the reading is shouting to be heard -- trying to say "This is something you really need to think about!" If there's a lack of Trumps, I still see it as a valid reading -- just not all that momentous.

I don't find the cards good for answer specifics (skin tone, car they drive, etc). When I am reading for another person I talk about those things that seem relevant and I acknowledge that I don't give specifics.

Generally I view the cards as a tool for telling stories, mystical stories but stories none the less. They are a wonderful tool for self examination but I tend to be skeptical of their ability to tell a strangers future.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Peace to you.
