Yes. Take the area of the room and multiply it by the thickest of the paint coat times the number of coats....... Truth is that the room may seem smaller but it is just an effect of the color you chose.

I don't think that darker colors *always* make a room feel smaller. I painted one room dark green, the same color as the trees outside. I think it visually expands the room to the outside. The room happens to have a lot of windows. Also, if there is not a lot of wall space due to many windows, doorways, fireplace, etc, then it will have little effect. Light plays a larger role in the perception of room size in my opinion. If you have a lot of natural light, the darkest color will have no effect. But if you have almost no light, then the wall color will absorb what little light you have. I *do* think that paneling makes a room look smaller than dark wall paint, though. People of the world: get rid of your panelling!

Probably by a couple thousandths of an inch.
I kind of disagree with the idea that a person shouldn't use darker colors in a small room. I used darker colors in two of my bathrooms and they look awesome. I'm more of a proponent of contrasting colors. If you have a dark flooring, then use light walls. If you have light flooring, use darker walls. By contrasting the two, the one will accentuate the other. The same goes for fixtures and wall colors. In my bathrooms all of the fixtures are light colored. The toilet is white; the cabinets are natural oak, the sink basin is white marble, the towel bars are chrome and white porcelain; and the showers are white. If you have light colored fixtures or things in your bathroom, what is going to make them stand out more and draw your eyes to the fixtures more: a light color or a dark color? The dark color wall will because it contrasts that light color and making them stand out more against the background. It makes your eyes focus on them so you see what you want to see....the fixtures. I call this "making the room pop." Because what it does is make everything in the room seem like it pops out at you.

Dark colors by themselves don’t make a room look smaller. But combined with light colors, they might. It’s high-contrast colors that make a room feel smaller. The less contrast in a space, the larger it feels, whether the colors are all light or all dark.

Depending on the color shade you use it does appear smaller. Thats why if you are painting small rooms its recommended you stay with lighter shades, because darker color shades make the room appear and feel smaller.
But if you want to go with a small cozy feeling then darker colors may be what you want.

It all depends on the color you decide to paint it. Some colors do make the illusion of looking smaller

It does not actually get appreciably smaller, though darker colors may make it appear or feel smaller.

Of course not!!
If you think it looks smaller, its probably because of the colour. Some colours make it look bigger some colours make it look smaller. Its just the trick of the eye.
