Is it customary for the child to give a gift to their godparents when they get christened? Thanks in advance

The purpose of the godparents is to guide the child through their spiritual journey. This is considered a very important task, and a very large responsibility (in many cases, the god parents are also the people the child's parents put down as the child's guardian incase anything happens to the parents). A gift of thanks is definitely welcome at the time of the baptism, as this is where the godparent's commitment to the child is made. It can be from the child, the parents, or both. A nice tradition is that the child's parents invite the godparents to a nice lunch or dinner on the day of the baptism as a way to say thanks.

No it's not... Their parents on the other hand I would think that would be acceptable.
Godparents are responsible for the child's walk in the christian religion and that in it self is a gift.
Good luck and congrats on becomming a Godparent!

I have a few god children of my own and I never recieved any gifts at the christening but I sometimes get special cards and gifts on my birthday and such....the christening is really a day about celibrating the birth of the baby.....it's their day really.

A little self-made thank you note would be highly appropriate and treasured. But nothing I ever heard of dictates a gift should be given by the child.

I never did for my children. They are too little to be giving gifts.
If you want to go out to dinner and pay for their meal as a thank from you to them then I see nothing wrong with doing that for them.
