my truck is registered in one state and i'm living in another (military). want to trade my truck in for something different but want to keep my legal resident state tags. do you think i can do that if i contact the people back home and give them the new vehicles info???

oh, i know it is possible if i purchase the new vehicle in the same state that i have tags from...i've done that before...just curious about out of state

You would need to title/register you truck in your home state, I don't believe you can do that by phone, since the truck would need a state patrol inspection before it could be titled. You are allowed being military to keep your home address.

Usually, it is 30 days from the start of your new residency to change drivers license and car plates. To drive a car off the lot, you have to have the plates paid for.

There are special rules for those stationed in the military in other states. Ask your CO
