This guy likes me, and he's nice, but I don't really know him that well. He's kind of touchy-feely, though, like putting his arm around my waist and stuff. It kind of makes me uncomfortable. How can I get that across to him?I don't want to just shove him off - should I ask someone to mention it or what?

tell him that, while you LIKE him that you have boundaries. let him know you'd like to get to know him better before he takes such liberties?

if he doesn't "get it" it's not worth worrying about so, just move on.

You should tell him exactly how you feel and nip it in the bud. He needs to know that he should respect you and your body if he plans to get to know you better. You don't have to tell him that he's too touchy-feely in a rude way, but it has to be direct. And, maybe he doesn't know he's making you feel uncomfortable. He'll learn something new about you, not only that you're great to be around, but that you have self-respect as well.

Just step away from his embrace and state "I'm not a touchy feely type of person and it makes me uncomfortable" in a calm, matter of fact type voice, and then proceed with your conversation as if it was no big deal.

By not using the you word you are letting him now it's your issue not his. He can't respect your boundaries if he doesn't know them.

the next time you are around him, try to make some conversation and see if you all have anything in common to see if you could actually be with this guy. if he gets all touchy-feely tell him that it makes you uncomfortable when he does that and that if he wants to continue talking to you that he needs to stop. good luck :)

Tell him that the contact is making you uncomfortable, perhaps he's just one of those people for whom it is normal to be touchy-feely, and he really isn't aware that not everyone is like him in that respect.

girlfriend...

never allow anyone to do what makes you uncomfortable !!

when he slides in close....just slide away.....
think of it as a dance move.....
slow and smooth......
or a bit quicker.....
but still smmmooooooth.....

use your hand if needed to remove his hand....

eventually, he'll ask....

and you can be straight up...

that while you do like him, you aren't a touchy-feelie sort of gal.

if he likes you and isn't just trying to get in your pants...
he'll respect that...

if he puts you down for that....
run.....
don't walk......

any man that does not respect your feelings is selfish/controling/manipulative......notice....all negative words.....

don't add negativity to your life in any form....
this is one of the best things you can learn about life

have fun.....

I would let him know that you are trying to get to know him and that you don't want to rush into anything at this point. If he likes you like you say then he will understand that you need to move slow. It is not going to help you to get to know him better if your always uncomfortable.

Just move his hands off of you and tell him he's going to have to get off some other way. If you don't know him that well then he probably does it to every girl he meets and that's gross. Would you really want to get involved with an octopus that can't keep his hands to himself?
