4 by 100 =30-40 seconds
4 by 400 = 3-4 minutes
4 by 800 =7-9 minutes
[overall time, males and varsity teams should be right in these times if not faster, while females and junior varsity times should be on the time or slightly off]

The sprint relay is usually the 4x100. A good time is under 42 seconds for boys and under 45 for girls.

Do handoffs really make a difference? Handoffs can make the race. I have no idea what race you're running in 43.57 (seconds, minutes?) and not knowing if handoffs make a difference. I guess you're talking about a 4x100m, then handoffs basically make the race. A smooth transition of the baton so that the baton itself doesnt slow down at all between the two runners is the key to any sprint relay.

You didn't provide enough information. Who's participating? Where are you? What city and state? That determines the time because of weather conditions. A good time will most likely be between 2:00pm-3:00pm when its not too hot.
