It is impolite and very inappropriate to brush your teeth at a water fountain. Brushing your teeth in a public restroom is the appropriate place to do this. Good job on practicing good dental health!

Hehe I don't want to sound sexist but I think it's more acceptable for men to do that stuff in a public bathroom than women. It's also based on where the bathroom is and what the person is wearing. If they had on a pilot uniform you'd probably mind less than if they were dressed in a tie-dye t-shirt. If the bathroom was at a bar and it was late I wouldn't be surprised with much of anything I saw in the mens bathroom, nor is there much I'd remark on.

I disagree. There has been alot of complaints about bad breath among co-workers. Now it's these people with bad breath that are trying to keep better dental hygeine by brushing their teeth in restrooms after lunch so as not to offend their co-workers with their bad breath!!!!!!! People who find it weird and not polite to brush in such places are putting those people in a catch 22 situation. Do people want their co-workers to have bad breath??????? As long as they do not mess up the restroom sink counters with their brushing, it should be fine shouldn't it??????

I wouldn't do it in a fountain as that is a little disgusting but in the restroom makes perfect sense.

There is not anything wrong with brushing your teeth in public places like a restroom. I have done the same thing when I am traveling and we stop in a gas station. I sometimes carry dentine gum with me when we are traveling and I can not stop to brush my teeth.

A restroom is fine - but I can't imagine using a fountain, there would be no proper place to spit!

I think it's totally fine in restrooms... but at fountains, however, it's a little bit too weird! :S

No, it is not. According to several etiquette books it is not even proper to touch your teeth in public. Brushing your teeth is out of the question. Besides, it grosses some people out, people spitting and everything else.
