My friend's visiting me in NYC from London. We want to get away from the city on a weekend. Apart from Atlantic City, can someone suggest some other places close-ish (altho we don't mind flying) that we can go to for a night?
We're 25, girl and guy and we'd like something culturally significant, at the same time fun!
Thanks!

Foxwood and/or Mohegan Sun - close to Mystic Seaport, the Pequot Museum and Research Center, the Lyman Allyn Art Museum - lots of interesting museums nearby. Close to NYC - buses go there every day. Beautiful setting.

Mystic CT. is really nice with some culture, super sea-food and a genuinely quaint feeling - Very New England. We went last summer and can't wait to go back.

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, makes a nice getaway (Amish country).

The Finger Lake Regions, in New York, are nice too (wine country).

Drive up to Vermont and do a bed and breakfast or go skiing. Or go to one of the Casinos in CT. You can always rent a zipcar!
