She has a nervous bladder (and bowel). You need to take the dog to obedience training, have the carpets compeltely cleaned and put down puppy pads by the door. Otherwise, keep the crate next to the door and heard her right out first thing.

OK take the crate outside and let her out there. That's not too hard as she doesn't weigh that much right?
Remember she is a small girl, she has small parts, bladder, etc. The longer you leave her in the crate the more she needs to go.
did you paper train her before housebreaking? Its essential
How long do you leave her in a crate?
Maybe put her in the bathroom with paper on the floor. It's not her fault she cant hold it. She is just a tiny little dog and if she could she would.
Do you yell at her when she does it? Some people pick their dogs up after they potty talk baby talk to it "aww dats such a bad little girl) doesn't send the appropriate message.
She has to go potty regardless of your schedule!!

I have a Shih Tzu and when I got her she was no bigger than that palm of my hand. It was in the middle of October and she was too little to take out. The vet said to keep her in. I paper trained her and now she is 5 years old and she still goes on the papers. She is a small dog like a Yorkie and its not a big mess or problem to pick up the papers everyday. I use one of those lids from a storage tote and turn it upside down so you have the lip of the edge so thing don't leak and I line it with papers. You might want to try this especially if the dog has already has a favorite spot that it wants to go and if you don't want to stick with the papers slowly move the lid with papers to the door. the dog will get the hint.Plus paper training is excellent if you work long days and a small dog cannot hold it that long. Saves you aggravation and the dog from getting in trouble. If you gotta go, you gotta go! Good Luck

You are just not going about it the right way.
The puppy can only hold it for so long.
The second you let it out of the crate you need to pick up the dog and carry it out side!
Do not come back in the house until the dog has done its buisness.
While the dog is actualy in the act of peeing or pooping outside praise the dog up and down saying (good go potty)
You must keep your dog on a strict going out schedual.
You should also take the dog out often.
Never let your dog wander the house unsupervised.

Have you considered rewarding with treats after the dog has eliminated outside? If you know that she eliminates once outside the crate, then you need to automatically take her outside to eliminate before eating. Use a command when taking her outside, I use Quick Quck, you repeat it over and over again until the dog eliminates, praise lavishly and reward with a treat for going outside and say "good quick quick" so the dog learns association.
Never punish if the dog has an accident inside the house, you will make them fearful of you and of going to the bathroom thus they will try to hide when going. If you see your dog squatting in the house use a sound to distract her (clapping hands, saying OUTSIDE!!) pick her up and take her out immediately, use the command and once done Praise and treat.
My Weimaraner has had the occassional accident and she's almost 2. I am very diligent in taking her out and have been since she was a puppy but accidents happen. Having them on a schedule will make it easier for you also. Use a command it works, I can get my Weim to pee on command now, it's great and works when you are in a hurry.
Good Luck.

Maybe your dog doesnt understand where to go to the bathroom. I have a yorkie, it was hard training him too. You should really replace your old carpets with new ones, the scent of recent pee and poop will make her think it is okay to poop in the house. Cover the floor with newspapers and puppy pads, especially in her preferred spots. Make sure you let your dog our a lot, so when she needs to go she'll go outside. Let your dog out at least once every 45 minutes. Hope it works!!

Crate training should only take 2-3 weeks for the dog to get it down & understand, if done properly & consistantly. You may want to do a google search for crate training for dogs & start over with instruction.
7 months may be too old to change the habits formed by your dog though.
Keep them in the crate all the time, except every 2 hrs or so take them outside IMMEDIATLY. When they come back inn allow them a few minutes to eat & drink, take them backout side again & allow them 5 minutes to try to go again.(Dogs naturally regulate themselves to go when they wake up & eat & drink) Bring them back in & Immediatly return to the crate. Do this all day from the time you get up & again right before you go to bed. Do this every day for 2-3 weeks & the dog should have it.
You may need to shampoo your carpets several times with a good pet stain & smell shampoo, animals tend to go where they smell old or others animals urine & feces smells( they have a powerful sense of smell)
Hope this helps. Keep in mind it may be too late to change your dogs habits since it really needs to be done early so they do not develop their own rules.
Good Luck.

a dog will not go to the bathroom where he/she sleeps...being she probably sleeps in the crate (from what i gather in your question) she thinks that outside the crate weither in the house or not is fair game to go to the bathroom....because it is not in her area...i think you should imeditaly take her outside after you let her out...if you catch her running to her prefered spots then run and pick her up and take her outside....make a huge deal out of it the same way you would a child going to the bathroom in the potty...but being she is in a crate it will take more time to house train her...this isn't a respect issue its just the way dogs are...catch her in the act and scold her...calmly take her outside and praise her when she goes....if she is running to the frount door why isn't someone there to open it for her so she can go outside?!?!?

Nothing is wrong w/your dog - it is it's master that has the problem. 1st off don't just let her out of her crate - pick her up & carry her out to the spot you want her to use & wait until she goes then lavish praise on her - even give her a treat. After this, take her back in the house & place her back in her crate, wait 2 hrs & repeat. Do this every 2 hrs until the next feeding. After feeding, take her out a few minutes after & do as I suggested above. Keep this up until she gets it .

You are confining her to much or long..She needs more freedom time. A crate is like being in Jail, a dog does not like doing it's business where it sleeps. Take the dog in it's crate outside before you let it out, then she will do her business in a place where you want her to.
