When i decided to train my 3 year old boy i had to let him spend the daytime (if you are at home with him) without any bottoms on. Some kids don't understand that diapers and underwear aren't the same. When i did this he had no choice but to use the potty and that's what he did... After a week of him consistently using the potty like this, i started putting "big boy underwear" on him and made him a potty chart. Get stickers/stamps that he likes (cars, trains.. for mine it was dinosaurs) and on a piece of the project board draw in block letters a word.. (TOY, CAR, etc) and divide each letter into 8 sections. When he goes to the potty let him help you put a sticker in one of the sections. After he gets all letters filled up, give him that special toy. It takes only about 7 days or so and by then he will be acustomed to the potty... Worked for my 3 year old and he DID NOT want to go to the potty... He's been potty trained for almost 4 months now.. all because of this!

Ok, I had trouble getting my daughter, (now 4) to potty train. She would not use the toilet and had no interest in the little potty I bought her. I asked around work etc. and I know this sounds weird, but a woman told me to try putting it wherever she spent the most time, (for me it was the living room). After a few weeks we were able to move the potty into the bathroom and from there it was an easy transition to the toilet.

With my 2 1/2 year-old son I told him if he started using the potty I would let him have 1 Elmo sticker to decorate his potty chair (This was after 6 months of trying to get him to use it) and the day I bought the stickers he used it for the first time.

I sent my 3 year old to my mother's house for the weekend. My mom told her, "sorry abby, Mima doesn't have any pull ups, only lollipops for good girls how pee and poo on the potty".
worked like a charm. We also changed the treat every single week so it doesn't get boring and my 3 year old didn't rot out her teeth.
Crayons, new toy, special trip, out to dinner... whatever she wanted.
Until we had no more accidents.
Also, I was all over her all the time. "it's time to eat lunch, but first you have to potty" "it's time to tubby, but first potty"
It's not as important that she go every time, but that she is excited about sitting there like a big girl. The ability to hold it will come with time. First work on the habit

The best answer I can give is he will train when he is ready, every child is different. I have two boys my oldest wasn't completely potty trained until almost four my youngest was barely three. Don't Worry Just keep Trying!

your 3 year old just may not be ready,,,relax. think about it this way he wont be an adult and pottying in his pants. My son was almost 4 when he was potty trained whereas my daughter was barely 2. it just depends on the child

Do a search...anyone INTELLIGENT will tell you that you should NOT discipline a kid that doesn't want to use a toilet. You'll screw them up big time.
You need to encourage him(?) to go, and reward him when he does. Go to the library and get a book and/or movie on it...my kids liked watching a movie (I forget what it was called) about using the potty...

Boy or girl?
If it is a boy, it's normal. The child will pee before they will poop on the potty. This is crazy but I would put my son on the potty and tickle him and he would laugh so hard that he would pee in the potty and then he thought it was cool.
Good luck!!!

put a pair of underwear on him underneath his pullups/diaper...or have him wear underwear with just plastic panties. He'll want to go soon enough.
